Reds at Dodgers, 7:10 PM PDT, TV: Bally Sports Ohio, SPNLA
LHP Brandon Williamson (2-2, 4.60 ERA) pitches for the Reds and RHP Bobby Miller (6-1, 4.28 ERA) does the same for the Dodgers.
The Dodgers acquired RHPs Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly from the White Sox in exchange for OF Trayce Thompson and RHPs Nick Nastrini and Jordan Leasure. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers designated IF Eddys Leonard and LHP Justin Bruihl.

- 1991 Expos right-hander Dennis Martinez pitches a perfect game, defeating Los Angeles 2-0 at Dodger Stadium. Ron Hassey becomes the first backstop to ever catch two perfect games, as he also was behind the plate on May 15, 1981 when Indian hurler Len Barker faced 27 batters, beating the Blue Jays, 3-0.
- 2017 Alex Wood won his twelfth game against just one loss, going seven innings while giving up eight hits and four runs to the Giants. The Dodgers came from behind with four runs in the seventh and won 6-4.
Lineups when available.
Back at it in LA!

NPUT
Miller takes the loss, but, Almonte and the offense lost the game.
I totally thought JD would get a K there. He missed too many pitches right down the pike.
So far the Dodgers have gotten:
Kiké,
Rosario,
Kelly and Lynn
Hoping for at least one more move since each trade has gotten slightly bigger returns than the one before. Ready for the finishing touch on or before Tuesday.
These DP’s are killing the mood man.
Well, I wanted the Dodgers to acquire Lynn a few years ago. This is kind of like wishing for a train set for Christmas when you are 13 and now you get it when you are 16. Now you want a car..
Outman should be in there in CF. Kike in RF, and Mook at 2b. That would be my lineup.
Not loving the Kiké era so far. Dodgers have yet to win since they started wheeling and dealing. (SSS alert)
But at least the Gnats and Snakes lost.
We gave it a good try, though.
Pffft.
It ended when Mookie’s ball went foul.
That was the one, wasn’t it?
Indeed.
Up to JD.
Last chance saloon.
Vesia, please throw strikes.
He listened!
So close, Mookie. So close.
C’mon, Mook!
More hook than mook
Ok James. Let’s do some damage.
Walk and stolen base.
Kenley swats Gnats 1-2-3 on nine pitches. Rainiers stop Snakes 5-2, but Pads are blanking Rangers 7-0 in ninth.
Muncy is a rally killer.
He did hit it fairly well there.
8 out of 10 times
Exactly.
Well yes had I said per AB
Not really. .329 OBP and ranked 8th in NL rbi.
With runners on OBP increases to .352.
3 is good but still wanted 1 or 2 more.
Dodgers interested in Verlander? Apparently that’s the report in the LA Times
I don’t want to bail out the Mets
Only if the Mutts pay his entire salary, and even then I’m skeptical.
Friedman is a genious
At Software Stadium, it’s up to Kenley as Sawx lead Gnats 3-2 in ninth.
Go Kenley!
He went!
Back in the game…
Rosario!
I’m beginning to like this guy
Rosario rbi! Woot! Welcome to LA!
Curious that Mookie didn’t run there.
Nobody out, not worth the risk.
Let’s go Willy!
That helps!
Really want Freddie to do the Freddie here.
Sacks full!
Rally Time!! Clap…Clap..
Just have to stay out of the dreaded DP
Bickford is really this team’s rubber arm.
Phil gets out of that mess.
Nice job to keep it at… um… four runs behind?
Great Freddie catch!
Indeed!
Gameday audio is now more like 8-9 pitches behind the live action.
Your Gameday announcements are more intriguing than the game itself.
My gameday is ahead of the TV.
Crap. Nothing to do but root for the Mariners and Red Sox.
Not that era is the be all + end all of pitching stats – but it’s not encouraging when each reliever that comes in has a higher era than the one before (and higher than the starter who has a 4.37 era).
Jokes on the Reds for putting in a pinch runner and then getting a HBP and a walk.
Roberts should pull him.
Yency hasn’t got it tonight, poor fella.
He’s totally lost it.
Scheiße!
Letting this one slip-slide away.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iUODdPpnxcA
Could use a DP on our side of the ledger here.
Yency, settle down!
Dodgers looking a bit like they have a limited supply of luster tonight.
However, since we are only a couple of games removed from a 9th inning comeback – I won’t completely count them out yet.
Crap!!
These DPs are getting very annoying.
I’m delayed in my responses because I’m listening to the gameday audio which runs about 5 or 6 pitches behind real time play.
Miller pitched a bit better tonight I guess? I’m joining the program already in progress.
Ely is fun to watch.
Reminds me of Willie Davis on the bases
Are you at the game?
No. Watching in my living room!
Good grief…
Oxymoron
Keeps me from a rule #1 violation..
Not like the star studded reinforcements that we are used to, but these guys should be an improvement on the margin. Hopefully that is all we need.
Rosario looking good so far. He can do the Freddie as well.
Rats!!!
Cruz towers over Mookie.
We got to see De La Cruz run. He is entertaining.
Top of the order. Let’s get some runs.
Freddie on his horse!
Well-placed by JD.
This game better change real fast.
There’s a start.
Too bad Smith didn’t take the walk he was offered.
Ryu is back with the Jays and healthy again. Here’s an MLB feature story on his return and his mentoring skills.
Every long hit has been to RF. I wonder if that signifies.
Well, they’re getting around on him.
on his off speed stuff for sure.
An inauspicious start.
Down by three in the ninth, with the bases loaded, the Angles pinch-hit for Ohtani? Did they change their minds about trading him?
He left yesterday’s game with a mild pain of some kind, so maybe it recurred.
Not to be missed during trade deadline talk is Outman’s July line:
.323 .440 .500 .940
Color me unenthusiastic. https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/1685004270108598272?s=20
Trayce wasn’t going to have a spot in the Dodgers’ outfield anytime soon, so maybe this is a good deal for him. Kelly and Lynn are known MLB quantities. The two youngsters? Who can tell?
I like getting Joe Kelly back. Lance Lynn? Maybe he’ll have a renaissance moment.
I have sympathy for Trayce, as he’s had his moments, but he’s just too injury-prone. Nastrini is an above-average prospect, while Lynn and Kelly are on the downside of their careers.
This post is presumably for Friday’s game. In the meantime, I’ll repost this and repeat the comment that I was there when Orel set the scoreless innings record in SD – my most memorable in-person experience with MLB. https://twitter.com/BillPlaschke/status/1684598548489449472?s=20
That’s pretty cool.
Thank you for pointing out that there’s no game today. I misread Gameday’s preview date.
