Dear A&M Records,
I realize that when you put together a compilation called “The Best of Fairport Convention” there will be songs left out.
But only ten tracks? Really? A band of that name has been performing for forty-two years. Surely you could have found more than these ten tracks to showcase their talents.
- Meet On The Ledge
- Fotheringay
- Who Knows Where The Time Goes
- Genesis Hall
- Percy’s Song
- Come All Ye
- Matty Groves
- Crazy Man Michael
- Sloth
- Now Be Thankful
Huh. The funny thing is that A&M put out an even better compilation just a few years ago, Meet on the Ledge (https://www.amazon.com/Meet-Ledge-Classic-Years-1967-1975/dp/B00000JNMO), with 32 tracks.
Ah. Then maybe A&M was thinking “Just release the Sandy Denny material,” but there was some other music before and after her which was pretty good.
