Oh come on

Mike Tirico at the British Open: “Winning the Open is a life-changing experience.”
Somebody whose name I didn’t catch on CNN’s In the Money: “Facebook is the next step in human evolution.”
I’m starting a new organization: Citizens Against Nonsensical Hyperbole. Who’s with me?

  1. I try to know very little about celebrities & sportspeople, so I wot not of Mr Tirico’s previous situation, but I can certainly imagine that winning such a major tournament could make quite a difference in his life. Endorsements, recognition in public, high appearance fees, automatic entry into some competitions. It’s rather like the tennis equivalent of winning an Olympic medal.
