What DO you call that sea, anyway?
Caribbean: Ca-rib-e-an or Ca-ri-be-an? Dictionary.com says either is correct. I’ve always said the latter, with the emphasis on the third syllable. I’d like to say it’s because I actually lived in the middle of that sea (Puerto Rico, 1954-1956; I went to a Spanish kindergarten and was as fluent as a five-year-old can be), but …
