RHP José Buttó (0-0, 0.75 ERA) goes for the Mets and RHP Gavin Stone (1-1, 6.14 ERA) goes for the Dodgers.

Today in Dodgers’ history:

  • 1999 A crowd of 37,317 fans enjoys a 3-2 victory over the Braves when LA surpasses the 100 million mark in attendance at Dodger Stadium. The ballpark opened in 1962, four seasons after the franchise moved from Brooklyn to the west coast.
  • 2011 Bud Selig announces MLB is taking over operations of the Dodgers because of concerns over team finances and the ability of Frank McCourt to run the franchise. Los Angeles is facing substantial debt payments, which the owner plans to meet by using funding from the club’s new $2.5 billion, 20-year media-rights deal with Fox Sports, but the Commissioner has withheld his approval of the agreement between the News Corp.’s media company and the team.
  • 2012 The Reds become the fifth major league team to record their 10,000th franchise victory with a 9-4 win over Chicago at Wrigley Field. Cincinnati joins the Giants, Cubs, Dodgers, Cardinals, and Braves in reaching the milestone.

  1. My nap was too short. Betts, Ohtani and Freeman have combined for four hits, eight walks and one strikeout. Everyone else has combined for two hits, two walks and 10 strikeouts.

  2. This is such a frustrating game. I know it’s early days, but come on, Blue! Is that four times we’ve left them loaded? Just so bad!

  3. I’m going to the game tomorrow and holding out faintish hope that things will turn around.

    • I would change the channel and watch Nelly Korda and the LPGA but they are in a weather delay.

  4. Why would you pitch to Ohtani and Freeman when you have Teo, Muncy, and Outman coming up. All three are strike out machines.

  5. To rekindle my spirits this morning, I watched the condensed version of the Snakes 17-1 swatting of the Gnats. Highly recommended for your amusement.

  6. Rough home stand so far. Too early to panic, but, not too early to be a little concerned.

    • Last year, at this date, Dodgers were 11-11. By season’s end, they had won a mere 100 games.
