Game 141, 2023

Dodgers at Nationals, 1:05 PM PDT, TV: MASN 2, SPNLA

RHP Bobby Miller (9-3, 3.80 ERA) goes for the Dodgers and RHP Jake Irvin (3-5, 4.35 ERA) goes for the Nats.

Today in Dodgers’ history:

  • 1948 At the Polo Grounds, Dodger Rex Barney no-hits the Giants, 2-0. The Brooklyn 23 year-old right-hander had to endure a one-hour rain delay, as well as showers in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings to finish his gem.
  • 1965 Sandy Koufax’s perfect game against the Cubs bests Bob Hendley’s one hit effort, 1-0. The Dodger Stadium gem is the southpaw’s record fourth no-hitter.

“And there’s 29,000 people in the ballpark and a million butterflies.” – Vin Scully’s description Of Koufax’s masterpiece.

  • 2013 Juan Uribe homers in each of his first three trips to the plate in the Dodgers’ 8-1 victory over Arizona. Los Angeles goes yard six times in the Chavez Ravine contest, falling two shy of the franchise record established in 2002.

  1. Nice to get the lead runner. Better still would have been if he could have tagged him and also getting the out at first.

        • Yesterday people already had about 7 innings under their belts and local team was losing, so get that attendance was sparse after the game resumed. As well, tonight people were stuck at the stadium as it is a bit of a walk in the rain to public transport (the Metro).

  2. If Dodgers pull this one out, I think it could really turn their season around. Lol

Just kidding of course but it would be fun.

  3. The difference in this game is absolutely catches made by Washington outfielder vs missed by the Dodgers.

  4. Given that the division’s all but wrapped up, it’s hard to get too upset, but having had to wait so long for this leaves a bad taste.

  5. I was quite confident that Miller would get out of that which is a very nice feeling, being confident of your starter.

  6. For the college football fans, I’m missing the Texas – Alabama game because it’s on ESPN and thanks to Disney’s greed and Spectrum’s unwillingness to accommodate that greed, no ESPN channels are visible on my cable TV.

    Annoying, this is.

  7. I’m guessing neither of these games will ever be played, because they’ll have no effect on the final standings.

  8. National Weather Service:

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 677 REMAINS VALID UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS
    EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS
    THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

  9. I guess it’s time to take the canines out again, though they had a dog park excursion this morning.
