Dodgers at Guardians, 4:10 PM PDT, TV: Bally Sports Great Lakes, SPNLA
The Dodgers’ RHP Bobby Miller (7-2, 3.70 ERA) takes the mound at Progressive (formerly Jacobs) Field, where he’ll face the Guardians’ RHP Noah Syndergaard (2-6, 6.57 ERA). The Dodgers dealt Syndergaard and cash away last month in exchange for infielder Amed Rosario.
In case you missed it: here’s the customized bat the Phillies’ Bryson Stott took to the plate during Sunday’s Little League Classic game against the Nationals.

- 1917 In a 22-inning contest against the Dodgers, Pirates’ outfielder Carson Bigbee sets a major-league record with 11 at-bats. The game was also the fourth straight extra-inning game played by Pittsburgh (59 innings in all), which sets a National League record.
- 1965 Juan Marichal thinks John Roseboro throws too close to his head returning the ball to Sandy Koufax and attacks the Dodger catcher with his bat. The Los Angeles backstop suffers cuts on the head during the 14-minute brawl.
- 2000 Hitting a solo blast and a three-run round-tripper during a nine-run sixth inning of a 14-6 victory over the Expos, Dodger first baseman Eric Karros becomes the first player in the 111-year franchise history to hit two homers in an inning.
In 1886 Louisville’s Chicken Wolf hits a game-winning inside-the-park home run, thanks to a stray dog impeding Abner Powell from fielding the ball. The canine, who had been sleeping by the fence, refuses to let go of the pant leg of the Reds center fielder, who watches in dismay as the Colonel batter races around the bases in the team’s 5-4 loss at Eclipse Park.

NPUT
Dodgers got nothing from the middle and bottom of the lineup. 1 for 21.
At least Syndergaard didn’t get the win.
Foo.
Old friend Trea just walked off for Fillies against Gnats.
That makes this one sting less.
Gnatcloser Doval had his second straight BS, but also gets the L this time.
The best news of an otherwise forgettable baseball eveining.
Given how well Dodgers have played this month, I can’t get too upset.
Well, good game to let Hudson shake off the rust.
34 pitches’ worth of rust so far.
Like I said…
Can’t catch a break, here.
I guess we’re due a bulllpen stinker.
Wow. What a disaster.
Doc second guessed himself keeping Miller in.
I was surprised when he came back out for the 7th.
He was supposed to pitch to one guy and then Caleb was to face the lefties.
So why did he leave him in to face Brennan and Naylor, the lefties.
64 dollar question.
Yeah. Not usually his issue, leaving a pitcher in too long.
Particularly when they are counting Miller’s innings at this point.
How’s Cleveland’s bullpen?
It had better be worse than awful.
Numbers are pretty good.
Dodger discard hurts them.
Which one?
Calhoun played AAA in OKC.
Ahhh.
Picked up only recently. He was just depth there, on the downside of his career.
Maybe the Dodgers will do the same to them.
Ferguson’s days are numbered.
He’s been very good lately.
Oh man. I shoulda stayed away! Every batter of theirs has scored since I started watching!
That stinks.
¡Apesta!
¡Miércoles no es mañana!
Rats. Poor Bobby.
As Vinnie would say, Miller can win it, lose it or have nothing to do with it.
Well, that didn’t work out.
Didn’t work out big time.
Shoot! I didn’t realize this game started so much earlier!
Syn(dergaard) no more, although he wasn’t Thorible. (With apologies to WBBsAs).
If he’d pitched this well in LA, Dodgers would probably have five more wins.
Yes. I expect that there is less pressure in Cleveland than in L.A. or NYC.
He wasn’t terrible for the Angles last year (though he wasn’t really good either).
This guy is only 6’6″?
Get something started Keeks.
The top three in our lineup have all four of our hits, have scored all three of our runs, and have driven in all three of them.
Quality start for Syndergaard. Only 4 hits. Middle and bottom of the order not getting it done for the Dodgers.
An 11-pitch inning for Miller, 72 through 5 innings.
He’ll have some ups and downs at this age, but still the real deal.
I totally agree.
Betts now hitting. 301. He was hitting. 277 at the end of July.
Time for a Betts blast.
Not a blast, but a rip.
Crazy inning, but overall pitch count not too bad.
Had to work pretty hard.
More runs, please.
Oops. Hanging slider.
Well, Thor is not very good, but he is keeping them in the game.
Spiders are unlikely to outslug the Dodgers.
That HR not withstanding.
Good situational hitting, though.
Two pitchouts! But two SB.
I guess that the Dodgers can read Syndergaard well after being his teammate this season.
Freddie is due.
He is no longer due. He fouled off seven pitches during that AB before his run-scoring single.
Bobby mowing them down and keeping pitch count down as well.
Only 17 pitches in two innings.
Mook starts it off.
And Will sends it off!
Thanks, Thor!
Hope he is a Thor loser today.
