Dodgers at Padres, 5:40PM PT, TV: MLBN, SPNLA, FSSD
Brandon McCarthy goes for the Dodgers. He’s got a 5-1 lifetime record against the Padres and won his last start. McCarthy has averaged 6 innings per start and has given up 18 hits in 18 innings while striking out 25 and walking only 3. His ERA is 4.50 and falling.
His opponent will be Ian Kennedy, who strained a hamstring in his only start this year and just came off the DL.
Lineup when available.
Tonight's #Dodgers lineup vs. the Padres:

André in right in place of Puig. I guess that hamstring is hurting him pretty badly.
NPUT
Game time less than 3 hours away, up and at them….
Nighty night!
Another 10 k’s by Dodger pitching – and of course lots of non-solo home runs!
any win is a good one
Woo HOO!!! And Phew…
We win!
Come on, guys. Finish this off.
Wild run.
Alright. Two outs. One more, Hatcher!
Steiner still thinks Kemp is in the game.
Sorry, WBB, Gnats won in eleven innings.
Like I said earlier… Boo for lead off walks.
Sets up the DP.
Optimistic, but I’ll take it!
There goes the usual DP option.
Nope, there goes that option.
Don’t walk the leadoff guy!
following from afar, a bit of a slugfest I see
SVS didn’t get it done, huh?
Hit is well, but to the centerfielder.
Alright time for a slam by SVS.
I’ll take a single.
Ha – I would too to be honest.
Poor Van Slyke fouled one hard right off the shin. His eyes were watering too hard to see the ball after that.
Brutal.
Wheels coming off their pitcher. SVS time!
Joc with another walk.
AG gets first BB.
Guerrero time.
Grandal seems to be figuring some things out recently. Another extra base hit for him.
McCarthy: right elbow tightness.
He was always a risk, Anderson even more so.
Yes!
Come on, Nicasio, get the third out, please.
I swear, I can’t tell all these beards apart. This batter looks like at least two of their pitchers.
That was a scary foul. Yikes.
Long one?
Very. To the right. We got away with one there.
i really dislike lead off walks.
Dre!
Dre!!!!
Yes!
Great hit by Rollins. Greater catch by Solarte.
Ok Rollins – no double play!
Nor K nor popup.
I overlooked another alternative, unfortunately.
Except I was just thinking as long as he doesn’t end the inning and give Ethier a chance to bat. Which is what happened!
In the tenth in Denver, Casey McGeehee is picking up the pace with yet another GIDP.
Good hustle by Joc!
Joc should join the HR parade tonight.
Or a walk. Again.
Or, if you’re preparing dinner, a wok.
Lemp just got booted for arguing.
He limps off?
You can’t get away with a thing.☺️☺️☺️
Ha – Lemp! Fun typo…
Weird one.
Not the quickest or easiest 1-2-3 inning, but it’ll do.
1,2,3,4 if you count Kemp getting tossed.
Great strike three pitch!
Yes!
I like “In play, out(s)” when the other guys hit.
Called/swinging strike is good as well.
Nicasio’s era is lower than I would have guessed, For some reason I thought he had started this year less effective than that.
One, two, three inning would be good here.
Alonzo is like a vacuum cleaner at first today.
Why are all the Padres so hirsute this year?
Phew. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but we could use a few more runs.
Sergio is not doing himself, or his new team, any favors right now.
Come on, Sergio!
Welcome to the NL West, home of great pitching and pitcher’s parks.
Not good. We gotta stop them, now.
Sergio who? Oh, right.
And McCarthy’s injured. What a crazy game so far, even in fast forward!
Maybe if I go start dinner prep they’ll stop the Padres before they get any closer.
Ugh. Just saw the Upton HR.
Is McCarthy injured now too?
Seems to have indicated that.
Home runs are killing him!
I just hope they get this game in and that rain doesn’t wash it away. That would be very frustrating.
Uribe getting in on the fun!
The Dodgers have 24 HRs in 16.5 games. That projects to 236 on the season. The record is 249 by the Astros in 2000.
Break up the Dodgers!
Kendrick with the blast.
I don’t think we’d ever see Dee do that.
This Ethier fellow still has a few hits left in his bat.
So, McCarthy has become a fly-ball pitcher?
Okay, Brandon, you have a second chance here. Don’t give up any more home runs, okay?
Pitchers park, Petco. Right. Anyone know if there’s a HR increase there this year like there seems to be at DS?
“They’re juicing the balls! They’re juicing the balls!”
Not like AGon hadn’t hit a bunch there before, tho.
By Litterbox standards, it was a cheapie.
“In play, run (s)” when the Dodgers are batting probably is my favorite thing to see on Gameday.
OH man yeah, I agree with that. It sends good chemicals to my brain.
At this rate, the game will be tied 27 all after 9 innings…
I like 3 run homeruns from the Dodgers.
Coors West!
AGon!
Home runs are the bane of Brandon’s existence right now.
Hopefully strikeouts are his lifeline.
Presumably a groundball pitcher.
Rumor: Peralta likely to DL. Supposedly dead arm related to earlier back spasms. Could explain velocity falloff v SF last time out, when Kendrick saved his bacon. Could have to do with Santos’ arrival.
Out of the gate strongly. I approve.
Sure glad Rollins was running on that…
No Puig for the game
http://m.mlb.com/news/article/120463994/left-hamstring-keeps-yasiel-puig-out-of-starting-lineup
Yasiel to DL, before either Hanley or Matty?
It might make sense, and there’s enough depth in the OF.
Casey McGeehee of the Gnats is 7-for-43. Translation: that means seven GIDPs. Could be a record-setting pace.
On pace for 63!
There are other Gnats who are even more deserving. Perhaps there could be competition among them.
I bet you really cheered during the San Francisco Earthquake, both of them… I wish something would give me the pleasure you get, I envy you…
I live in Oakland, and was here during the Series quake. Earthquakes do not terrify me, but I enjoyed the results of that particular Series.
I spent almost 40 years in Orange County so I felt my share of earthquakes too. Funny how people in other parts of the country are so afraid of earthquakes but suffer tornados and hurricanes which would terrify me.
I’ve also spent lots of time in Chile, but haven’t experienced any big ones there, though I did visit Santiago in the immediate aftermath of the 2010 event: http://tinyurl.com/pc8yaqs. I saw even more impressive damage near the epicenter in the south, but a year later: http://tinyurl.com/nodywqb
I’ve dodged a couple of hurricanes, fortunately.
