Rats!

What’s your definition of unpleasantness? I have many, but close to the top is having a kitchen range exhaust fan’s blades blocked by a dead rat. The vent goes down below the floorboards and outside, and it (presumably) has a flap over the opening, but somehow…well, you get the picture (or the odor).

  1. Well, at least the fan didn’t chop the late rat into little pieces which fell into whatever you were cooking. 😉 (the way I’m picturing all this, it sounds possible)

  2. Sue, no, no, no. The range is a Jenn-Air circa 1981; the exhaust grill is between the two burner/grill units flush with the countertop, so it vents down through a pipe which goes through the floor and outside. It’s not the overhead exhaust hood variety.

  3. Pictures Please!!! ;-}
    FYI: Rats are in demand as food in Thailand because of the “bird flu”…but you already know that because you are the “LinkMeister”!!!!!

  4. Years ago, there was a rat that got into our basement and couldn’t get out again. The little creature (about the size of Ben) managed to die inside the wall. Same scenerio. And really hard to dispose of.
