Repeal yes. Replace, nah.

The idiots in Congress have voted (for the 62nd time in the House) to repeal the Affordable Care Act. This time it got through the Senate so it’ll go to President Obama’s desk, where he’ll veto it in a New York minute.

What if his pen slipped and he signed it? What would the Republicans do to help the 22 million Americans whose health care they just took away? Since 2009 they’ve been yowling that they’d replace Obamacare with a better plan, but they have never presented one. I really think their base would explode if they did try to put an alternate plan in place, they’ve demonized health care so much.

Now they have a front-runner in the Presidential nomination race who’s spoken admiringly of the single-payer systems the UK and Canada have.

Trump, who is increasingly worrying Republican party leaders, has said little on the campaign trail about healthcare beyond bashing the current law and promising that “everybody’s going to be taken care of” and “the government’s gonna pay for it,” as he said on “60 Minutes” in September.

In the past, Trump has expressed admiration for government-run systems in other countries such as Britain and Canada.

I’m sure they think/hope he won’t win the nomination, but right now he’s in pretty good shape. Can you imagine him trying to formulate a government-paid health care system and getting these clowns to pass it?
