A holiday ritual

Our microwave ovens seem to break around the holidays. Ten years ago one died in the midst of Thanksgiving dinner preparation. More recently we had to replace one around July 4th. I don’t know why.

Anyway, last night I pressed the push button to open the door of the thing to reheat a cup of coffee or something and the button offered no resistance. It just went back into its recess without opening the door. The worst of this is, it’s a wall-mounted device above the electric oven, and it was installed into a hole which held a previous oven. This one has a slightly smaller case, so the installation included several pieces of foot-long plastic trim around the top and bottom of the microwave to fully cover the hole. That means it may take a professional to fix, rather than me trying to do it on my own with the assistance of several dozen YouTube videos.

Crap.
