At least this game still has the traditional matchup it always used to have prior to the BCS system: it pits Stanford of the Pac-12 against Michigan State of the Big Ten. For about 80 years those two conferences’ winners played one another on January 1 each year.

Right now it’s the start of the fourth quarter and Michigan State just took the lead, 24 – 17. MSU has made some mistakes, fumbling and throwing interceptions. Stanford’s made its share of foulups too. We’ll have to see what happens in the last 13 minutes.
