Here’s the song which inspired a few Folgers Coffee commercials: Karen Carpenter sings “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.” The song was first recorded by Bing Crosby in 1943 and made it as high as number three on the charts.

So it’s not like bad enough I have to go grocery shopping once more before Christmas, and get all sorts of songs stuck in my head. LOL
Just the MENTION of the Carpenters… without even hearing a single note of her voice, is enough to jam several of their songs at once stuck around in my head.
Heh. I’ve been posting Christmas songs in December for the past five years!
You know what’s really sad? After Karen’s death it appears Richard decided he’d stop composing and arranging and devote the rest of his life to their song catalog. That’s a waste of perfectly good talent, I think.
Our singing group TOSCA (The Oakland Symphony Chorus A la Carte) has been performing this song almost every night for the last 2 weeks (or whenever the basses and tenors show up). It’s a great song.
