I’m pretty sure Chip Davis had no idea when he created a Christmas album in a studio with a small group of friends that Mannheim Steamroller would take off as it did in the 1980s. Here’s “Deck the Halls,” from that first album released in 1984, called “Christmas.”

If there’s any Irish in me it’s buried deep, considering my maternal grandmother’s name was Johnson. My paternal grandmother’s name was Elliott, but that’s Scots, not Irish. Here are Tom Jackson, Pear, and Shannon Gaye singing “Christmas in Killarney.”
