Nose, face, stupidity

Toward the end of this story on All Things Considered the reporter from the Tyler Morning Telegraph in Tyler, Texas answered a question from Melissa Block about the Affordable Care Act. He told of a restaurant owner in town who had closed his business rather than pay his (potential) obligations under “Obamacare.”

That kind of stupidity may explain just how it is that Louis Gohmert got elected from that district.

  1. That was probably the cover story the place gave after being caught with health inspection violations.

I just found a news piece about 5 restaurants being cited with violations in Tyler Texas.
I don’t think your comments allow links.
The report said that 3 of these 5 restaurants had failure to properly store foods at a cool enough temperature. (This is in Texas!)
Among various other violations, one place was cited for improper hygiene of employees, and another was found with slime on beverage nozzles.

Besides which restaurants have a really high failure rate as it is.

Of course, after watching a few seasons of Ramsay’s Nightmares or whatever that show is called, and seeing the level of narcissism in many of those failing & flailing restaurant owners, it’s easy to imagine one of them lying to cover up their own failures rather than admit they just failed.
Though also, seeing some of the stupidity as well, it’s not hard to imagine a restaurant owner closing up shop for a stupid imagined reason.
