Classic Sci-Fi

I’ve seen the name Cordwainer Smith mentioned whenever classic science fiction is being discussed, so when I was wandering through a used bookstore this afternoon and found a copy of his collection When the People Fell for a buck I thought “why not?” Then I noticed that it had an introduction by one of Smith’s publishers, a great science fiction author (and blogger!) in his own right, Frederik Pohl. Heck, I’d pay a buck just to read the intro.

Now I learn that I really need to find the other major collection of Smith’s works, We the Underpeople, in order to fully appreciate the new worlds he created.

Ain’t it always the way?
