This makes absolutely perfect sense.
Let’s regulate guns instead of abortion. 24 hr waiting periods before purchase, parental consent, mandatory viewing of gunshot wound videos

That’s funny.
But in all seriousness I actually think maybe the viewing of gunshot wounds would maybe be helpful in promoting the education of firearm securing & safety.
I know one thing – my father, who taught me target shooting with a few different guns… also did a pretty good job of scaring me while teaching me, drumming it in, the importance of safety!
I think, as a result, I’ve never been the gun enthusiast he was!
Though probably that suggestion would be counter-productive for those with gun fetishes… they’d probably get a thrill out of it. đ
Remember driver’s ed classes and the movies with horrific car crashes? They scared me.
ha ha! I never had a driver’s ed class in school…
Actually, I THINK when i saw those movies in *drumroll* religion class in high school!
I went to 2 different private Catholic religious schools, and religion class was mandatory, but included study of the school’s religion – Catholicism, cursory study of the history of other religions, and also included health & safety, and sex education!
But before you draw conclusion… the sex education quarter was not just an abstinence-only instruction. It was actually quite comprehensive. The teacher did not advocate for sex outside marriage, and made it clear that Catholicism considered birth control a sin, of course. Nevertheless we were given extremely detailed information about the different birth control & STD preventative options, their usage, and statistical efficacy based on scientific research.
Which is why I’ve never understood why evangelical Christians have seen sex ed as a threat to abstinence. Clearly the Catholics in my day had no problem whatsoever presenting information without making it attractive.
And frankly, I actually think firearms safety maybe should be approached in the same way.
Why not if it’s a problem for teens?
