We aren’t even close to being finished decorating, but thanks to my niece and her fiancé (a fact I’m still grappling with) our tree is up and trimmed. Here’s a picture in daylight:

Lovely ! you’ve got the spirit!
I know buying real trees in Hawaii is a test of endurance – and crazy expensive–do you get real or do you have an artificial one. It’s lovely whichever it is, hard to tell from the picture.
Cyn, it’s a real tree. We buy from a charity called Habilitat, which takes orders in September and then reserves one for your pickup in December. They are indeed expensive, and I occasionally think “let’s get one of these new pre-lit artificial ones,” but then the smell of the real tree hits me and I think better of it.
