My sister’s neighbor restores and resells cars. This is his latest work.
It’s a 2005 Mini. I’m gonna try it out this afternoon. I suspect it’s too small to fit the wheelchair into easily, but I can’t resist. I’ve wanted to drive one since BMW first reintroduced them.
You may be surprised at how much you can get into that puppy. And it’s remarkably easy to get in and out of, as long as you can park next to enough space to open the door.
I looked up its reliability (for the 2005 model year) and it’s not entirely reassuring. How’s yours been?
Love the Mini. But for carrying a wheelchair, not so great. Whereas in a Fit, the chair can easily be stored upright, in the backseat with the seat cushions raised – still leaving the entire cavernous trunk free to carry groceries, a stack of library books, and your Labrador. If you had one.
Just saying.
Oh, I’m still leaning Fit or its competitors. But this is a possible option (I’ll find out in an hour or so), and since it’s used it’s a bunch of bucks cheaper. Used Fits are a) hard to find and b) only a thousand dollars or so cheaper than new. That being the case, I’d go for new.
