World Series hopes (not picks)

“Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for US Steel”

Jim Murray, the wonderful columnist for the LA Times, first said that in 1950. Back then US Steel and GM were still behemoths striding the American landscape. I suggest that it should be updated.

“Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for Bank of America, Citigroup, or Chase.”

I’m hoping for a Tampa Bay Rays – Arizona Diamondbacks or a Milwaukee Brewers – Detroit Tigers World Series. The first would make the suits at Major League Baseball and Fox cringe at the thought of the low TV ratings, while the second would be a blow in favor of small markets in gritty Midwestern cities.
