“I’ve tried my hardest. I’ve compromised and compromised. Still the Republicans in the House refuse to raise the debt ceiling.

“Now I’m asking you: if you live in a Congressional District represented by a Republican, call his or her office tomorrow and tell them you do not want the interest rate on every loan or line of credit you have to rise due to their inaction. Tell him or her ‘If you fail to do your job and the United States defaults on its debt my credit card rate is going to jump dramatically. If that happens, I know where the responsibility lies.’

“Similarly, if you or your parents get Social Security checks, those are going to stop as a result of this Republican behavior. You should remind your Congressman or Congresswoman that those checks are a substantial part of your or your parents’ income, and if they stop because the United States runs out of money, you know where the fault lies.
