Back to the future?

The UH baseball team won its first conference title in nearly twenty years yesterday, defeating New Mexico State 24 – 3.

“There’s no explaining a series where all the games are won by nine runs or more, and where one team puts up a 13-spot one day and the other team comes back and puts up 15. That’s bordering on ridiculous.”

So says Coach Mike Trapasso, and it’s hard to disagree. But you play where your opponents are, and Presley Askew field in Las Cruces is a notorious launching pad.

Good for the baseball team. They won four league championships between 1982 and 1992 and haven’t won one again until now.
