I pulled the wheelchair out of the trunk after a trip to the doc this afternoon and tried to close the trunk lid, only to discover the latch won’t catch and the trunk won’t shut tightly.

I pulled the wheelchair out of the trunk after a trip to the doc this afternoon and tried to close the trunk lid, only to discover the latch won’t catch and the trunk won’t shut tightly.

Hmmm. Try having someone jiggle the trunk release from inside the car while someone else tries to close it. Maybe the polarity got switched somehow? I did that with a friend’s car once when we were a few blocks from his house: I slammed the door on my coat, I think, making the door latch think it had engaged when it hadn’t. I tested my theory by doing the same thing to a second door – while we were still in the parking lot. We got back to his house with me holding two doors shut. I had to stick a pen into the door latch to make it think I was pulling it open again.
