Early game: It’s really early. Rangers at Blue Jays, 9:30AM PT, TV: MLBN
Mid-season pickup and playoff veteran LHP Cole Hamels (13-8, 3.65 ERA) will pitch for the Rangers. He’ll face RHP Marcus Stroman, who posted a 4-0, 1.67 ERA after recovering from an ACL he tore in spring training. The Jays’ Josh Donaldson was hit in the head with Rougned Odor’s knee, but he’s passed the concussion protocols and may start. The Rangers’ Adrian Beltre strained his lower back but hopes to play.
Late game: Astros at Royals, 12:30PM PT, TV: FS1
Midseason pickup Scott Kazmir will pitch for the Astros. He’s 7-11 with a 3.10 ERA overall this season, 2-6 with a 4.17 ERA for Houston. The Royals counter with their own trade deadline pitcher, Johnny Cueto. He’s 11-13 with a 3.44 ERA overall and 4-7 with a 4.76 ERA for Kansas City.
Texas may have won, but they’ve done it without Prince Fielder. “Prince Fielder, meanwhile, extended his streak to 75 postseason at-bats without an RBI.”
KC wins, that series is tied 1-1. Texas leads the Blue Jays 2-0 in the other ALDS series.
KC takes the lead 5-4 in the 7th.
KC has tied its game at 4 in the 6th.
Astros lead Royals 4-1 in the third inning of Game Two in KC.

I think it’s very telling that the hitters most notable in September, Seager, Ruggiano, Schebler, didn’t have the benefit of his coaching for very long.
I think that means next to nothing.
Of course. Everything I say means next to nothing.
If you say so.
It will be amusing if the two big deadline acquisitions – Price and Hamels – lose the first two games of this series.
It’s also entirely possible that Cueto could lose in the second game.
I hate the SkyDome, but I like the enthusiasm of Canadian fans.
They changed the name to Rogers Centre in 2005 after Rogers Communication bought the place, but nobody calls it that. It’s still Skydome.
The Canadian fans have had nearly as long a drought as Dodgers fans, and more so considering they haven’t even made it into the playoffs. Since they play in a division with the Yankees and Red Sox and Orioles, it’s hard to get there.
If they installed a baseball field, I’d be willing to call it the Rogres (sic) Centre.
