Loot!

I was given several gifts which qualify as complete surprises.

First, a CD of the soundtrack of the new movie “Into the Woods.” I had never expressed any desire for this, but I’m absolutely sure I’m going to love it. How can you not love Sondheim?

Next, a lovely little memoir entitled “The Piano Shop on the Left Bank” by Thad Carhart. It’s the story of an American ex-pat in Paris who passes a little hole-in-the-wall store every day while taking his child to school and finally gives in to his curiosity and goes inside.

Finally, a baseball book which tries to statistically determine who the best fielding players in all of Major League Baseball have been over the 150 years of its existence. It’s called “Wizardry” by Michael Humphreys.

Oh boy!
