Dodgers at Giants, 12:45PM PST, TV: SPNLA.
One of the two de facto aces on the Dodgers staff while Kershaw’s out, Hyun-Jin Ryu brings his 2 – 1 record and his 2.57 ERA to this game. He’ll face Madison Bumgarner, who has a 2 – 0 record with a 3.31 ERA as well as a hot bat. He hit a grand slam and drove in five runs in his last outing.
Mattingly is going with an all right-handed outfield against Bumgarner, saving Ethier and Crawford for pinch-hitting duty.
#Dodgers lineup at San Francisco:
Gordon 2B
Turner SS
Puig RF
Gonzalez 1B
Kemp CF
Van Slyke LF

So is Mike Petriello:

Grant Brisbee on the Puig theater yesterday is well worth reading:

And he earlier tweeted this:
“It took four hours to tell the story of Ben Hur. It took one minute to tell the story of Yasiel Puig.”

Just checked in. Skin of our teeth…
Well, had Morse not reached first in the ninth on a strikeout/wild pitch in the dirt it would have been less nerve-wracking.
Will have to watch, after work.
Same here.
Did Puig and Kemp nearly collide in that inning Wilson pitched? Mom seemed to think so. I didn’t see the play.
From Game HQ – “S Van Slyke grounded into double play, pitcher to shortstop to
third to second to third to second to third to second, A Gonzalez out at third,
S Van Slyke out at second”
I hope it doesn’t cost us (should have Van Slyke just stayed at first?)
just saw it on gameday, I think he certainly should have stayed
I’m giving Ryu a standing O
nice Adrian
another chance here
Ryu, if he can hit a grandslam, so can you!
Alas, he did not.
I would have been happy even with a single 🙂
C’mon Uribear, single him home
2 pieces of encouraging news

I’m still skeptical Hanley will be back so quickly.
Possibly, I read somewhere that he may have needed a rest day anyway
Puig giveth, Puig taketh away.
That’s a weird couple of plays there.
I just read Hicks hitting into fielders choice to right, Belt out at 2nd.
This I just have to see
Puig nonchalanted Hicks’s fly ball, dropped it, then was able to throw out Belt at second. Then on the next play, he made a turning over-the-shoulder catch that was just amazing. BTW, it’s really, really windy in SF.
Thanks, I just saw both plays on Gameday. It was great that he didn’t just drop it and put his head down, but reacted so quickly
Not surprisingly, Dee made si.com’s Small Sample Size All-Star team.
Surprisingly, old friend Aaron Harang is there too. He’s dominated–2-1, 0.96 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, 2.83 K/BB. “He has gone six or more IP all 3 starts, allowing no more than one run in any, He Kd 9 Mets two turns ago, and his other 2 starts came against the Brewers, whom he no-hit for six-plus innings, and Nationals, hardly pushover teams. His only loss came in a game in which the Braves were shut out.”
Also mentioned, in story lead, is old acquaintance Edinson Volquez, he of the 1.29 ERA for the Pirates. Called him an acquaintance since he wasn’t around long enough to become a friend.

I have confidence in Ryu.
