Dodgers at Nationals, 4:05 PM PDT, TV: MASN 2, MLBN (out-of-market only), SPNLA
LHP Tyler Anderson (4-0, 4.04 ERA) takes the mound for the Dodgers; he’ll face RHP Joan Adon (1-7, 6.38 ERA). While Anderson is off to an excellent start this season, Adon is obviously not. He has had three starts in which he gave up six, five and four runs in fewer than five innings each time.
Today in Dodgers’ history:
- 2002 Shawn Green hits four home runs in one game to become the 14th player in major league history, the second this month, to accomplish the feat. The Dodger right fielder’s 6-for-6 performance in Milwaukee’s Miller Park, which also includes a single and double, breaks Joe Adcock’s 1954 mark for total bases by one, with a total of 19. In the same game the Dodgers set a franchise mark when the team hits eight homers in one contest, bashing the Brewers, 16-3. Shawn Green’s four round-trippers accounts for half of the record-breaking barrage with Brian Jordan, Hiram Bocachica, Adrian Beltre, and Dave Hansen also contributing four-baggers in the Miller Park contest.

Anderson and Buehler are now tied for most wins for the Dodgers at five.
Looks like Bickford is coming in.
Probably the right choice.
We need to keep him healthy.
Yes.
I thought Soto was gonna catch that.
Ha! Not the best right fielder (passable left fielder)
He drifted back as if he had a bead on it.
That’s how bad he is.
Not gonna get paid for his defense. LF/DH.
Pads win in ten. More like Brewers lose it.
Yeah, the Beerboys blew multiple bases-loaded nobody chances.
Brewers had bases loaded no outs in the top of the tenth… and blew it. No runs scored. Padres up now.
Dodgers raised their team batting average to .248 and lowered their MLB-leading ERA to 2.76 tonight.
Gnatstarter Cobb gets bombed in the third, trails 5-2. Pads also losing.
After allowing five runs tonight to the Mets, all in the 3rd inning, Cobb’s ERA is now 6.59. He is back on the hill in the 4th.
He’s the best they’ve got.
Go Brewers, Go Mets….
Wowsers, Anderson was brilliant today.
Dodgers will remain in first no matter what the Pads do.
Woot!!
Woo-HOO!!!
Nice job Tyler. You Rock!!
Dave and Tyler gonna have a conversation.
Wow! 8 shut out innings!
Should Doc allow Anderson to try to get the second complete game and first shutout of his career? Or would that be too many pitches?
Looks to me to be tiring a little.
Good question.
Freddie! What a catch.
Do the Freddy…..
FF, rbi!
FFS! (For Freddie’s Sake).
Nice play, Alberto!
Fans a little excited here.
Oh well. Sigh.
Woot! 9-0!

Anderson may be solidifying his role in the rotation.
Base hit here busts this open.
One inning later…
Better late than never.
Mookie does it again…
Soto with the circus not-catch.
See the Gypsy Queen, In a glaze of vaseline.
Lux not biting.
CT3ple!!!
That ball just seemed to die, though still hit off the wall.
Are you nearby?
Nearby the plate.
Bellinger’s a really good base stealer.
Tyler is efficient. 36 in three!
Tyler has been a life saver.
Tip a canoe
FF will hit one out tonight.
Old friend Steve Sax is doing TV for the Gnats AAA team in Sacto (he’s from West Sacto, a separate city in neighboring Yolo County).
Baseball’s new normal. The Dodgers have struck out four times in two innings.
But also averaging a run per inning.
OK, I will settle for 18 Ks and 9 runs.
If they keep hitting the ball as they did last inning, they might have a better chance of reaching on a WP or PB.
Got your nine.
Nice AB by Taylor, who has struck out 41.6 percent of his ABs.
He’ll never catch up with Joey Bart, who’s now at .554 (41 FOR 74).
How long can the Giants keep Bart on their roster?
Casali, the vet who supplanted him, is on the concussion list, so they had to call up a recently acquired scrub from AAA. He’s gone hitless so far.
Anderson’s ERA just dipped below 4.
Trea with standing O from most of the smallish crowd.
You’re there?
Yep. Tomorrow as well, but can’t make Weds. game.
I just listened to and watched the highlights of the four-homer game. Thanks, Link, for sharing that. I used to be in a Rotisserie league, but discontinued that many years ago. However, Green was on my team that year. Listening to the description of the four-homer game, I am reminded how much I miss Ross Porter. He could tell when a ball was heading toward the stands. We were never “Portered.” I will never understand why the Dodgers cut him loose.

The game last July 1 was called after the heaven’s opened at the top of the sixth. Dodgers managed 5 runs in the top of the fifth, including Max’s grand salami and won 6-2. Rain is very likely at some point, but nothing like last year is in the forecast. On my way to the Park.
Have a great time. I have never been to that stadium.
Good sight lines for most seats. Relatively intimate, retro design. Can’t see the Capital anymore because of apartment buildings obstructing the view.
