Braves at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FSSO
Los Bravos send out Julio Teheran, whose 1-5 record makes no sense when you look at his 2.77 ERA, against the Dodgers’ Kenta Maeda, who’s 4-3 with a 3.00 ERA. Neither of them has had much success at Dodger Stadium:
In five starts against Los Angeles, Teheran has posted a 0-4 record. His 5.63 ERA and .298 batting average against are his worst against any National League team. He’s struggled mightily at Dodger Stadium, where he’s allowed 10 earned runs in 12 1/3 innings (16 runs in 15 innings including the postseason).
The Dodgers will counter with Maeda, who was given an extra day of rest after being struck in the right hand by a comebacker in his start against the Mets on Saturday. The rookie right-hander has also experienced his trials when pitching in his home park, going 1-3 with a 4.08 ERA this year.
A-Gon hit .312 for May, raising his season average to .299. He leads all Dodgers in average, followed by Utley, Seager and Thompson.
In praise of Kershaw, MLB’s Richard Justice appreciates his work.

This was an oddball game, which I watched from bed as I’ve been recovering from an apparent attack of the flu. Off the bat, Seager’s third homer appeared to be a routine fly ball, but it just kept carrying.
I haven’t looked. Did we really get 4 home runs to account for all our scoring? I mean, yay homers but boo production.
we did
I think Seager might be a keeper
We win!
Woo-HOO!!!
Corey!!!!!!!!!!!
Seager with 3 hr in a game!
Dude!
Blanton is solid.
Trayce trying to keep up with Corey for player of the game. Double has runners on second and third with nobody out.
3 innings in a row, 3 hits, 3 home runs, 3 picket fence boards on the line score.
Corey!!!
Yeah Corey Seager!
Last paragraph sums up our season so far. Looking at it that way, its amazing we are still above .500

I am beginning to wonder if it is bad luck, bad choice of signing injury prone players or a lot of both.
I didn’t realize we were worst in the league.
Trayce!
Gee he has been a more than handy player for us
Yeah Trayce Thompson!
Yeah Corey Seager!
Uggh. So many mistakes from me. I really thought sf were losing 2-1, but see now they were already ahead by that score.
Good news: Cards are 3 outs away from beating SF 2-1.
Bad news: SF have bases loaded and nobody out top of the ninth.
Bad news: And now SF are 3 outs away from beating St. Louis.
Good news: The Cards likely to lose.
On the other hand, we could be the Padres…
You mean the team that currently has a 3-0 lead. Right now that sounds dreamy. 😉
I’m talking about yesterday’s game….
You are right. That would not be fun as a fan. Lots of dark humour – or at very least dark chocolate – to get through something like that.
We are not impressing in the offense department.
Okay, Kenta. That’s enough…
Sigh – and now it is time to wonder if Maeda will need to go on the DL. He is clearly struggling out there. Not that pitchers can’t struggle without being injured – but this year with the Dodgers it is worth asking the question…
Do you think he is hurt?
Well, honestly all I really know about is his hand that got hit. Beyond that I guess he is likely still just regressing from his first 4 or so starts.
Let’s get that run back.
In Boston, R.A. Dickey is throwing a game that is semi-interesting (he has allowed a run).
And then, suddenly, a double by Big Papi eliminates that scenario.
