  1. Even when one’s death is on the horizon, the finality is oft hard to accept. Steve was tireless in his dedication to this site and to us. I am glad that he had such a devoted sister. Steve and I spoke ever so often and exchanged some emails. I will try to send a photo of the two of us at a restaurant on Oahu from the summer of 2021. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.

      • He very much would. His sister added more games, you may have noticed. I am back from a packed reunion three days tomorrow and will post more then.

  3. hello friends. I have sad news to report. Two nights ago, our Linkmeister Steve passed away. His sister let me know last night and I told her I would reach out to all of you as well. What a fine man and fantastic connector of like minds and fellow fans. Raise a glass to him. He is no longer in physical pain, but for me it still hurts. Love to all.

    • Very sad news indeed. May he rest in peace. Please pass along my sincere condolences to his family. He will be missed.

    • This is so sad. Had the fortune of spending an afternoon with him, when he flew back to Virginia for a class reunion about five years ago. I grieve for him.

    • Well heck. We will greatly miss Steve. Maybe we could rename this site Steve Timberlake's Elysian Fields. I will miss his occasional Yippii!!!!

Here is one of his comments from earlier in the year.

In the mid 1960s they left Spring Training in Florida and played a two-game exhibition series with the Senators, I suppose at Griffith Park. Koufax was supposed to pitch Saturday and Drysdale Sunday, and my father kept me home on Saturday to mow the lawn. I was furious. It turned out that Alston flipped his starters, so Don pitched Saturday and Sandy on Sunday. I rode the bus in to see him and the rest of the team pitch.

  4. By the time you read this, I’ll be on the ferry from Bellingham to Juneau. There’s no WiFi on board for the three-day trip, but I may occasionally have a cellular connection to be able to check in. Only the Snakes have a Thursday game, against the Mutts, so LA’s lead could diminish slightly prior to smashing the Rox at Dodger Stadium.

    Go, Ferris! Go, Dodgers!

We’ll fly from Juneau to Anchorage, where we have friends, then go to the Kenai Peninsula before continuing to Denali and Fairbanks, where we also have friends and will watch midnight baseball on June 21st.
