Mets-Dodgers game on Sunday moved to 5:10 p.m. ET/2:10 p.m PT
Dodgers at Mets, 2:10 PM PDT, TV: SPNLA, WPIX
RHP Bobby Miller (5-1, 4.50 ERA) goes for the Dodgers if/when the game starts, while RHP Max Scherzer (8-3, 4.31 ERA) goes for the Mets.
- 1913 In a game against the Cubs, Superbas’ second baseman George Cutshaw handles 14 chances without an error. The infielder’s defensive prowess helps Brooklyn beat Chicago at Ebbets Field, 4-2.
- 1948 Brooklyn’s Branch Rickey agrees on a deal with Giants owner Horace Stoneham that releases his manager Leo Durocher to become the Giants’ skipper, replacing the popular Mel Ott. Burt Shotton will take the ‘Lip’s’ place in the Dodger dugout.
On this date in 1990 Steve Lyons embarrassed himself dreadfully by dropping his uniform pants while standing at first base after sliding into the bag to beat out a bunt.

NPUT
Dodgers kids rode the train too:

Clockwise from top left: Kershaw and son, Will Smith and daughter, Brusdar Graterol and daughter, and David Peralta and daughter.
Robertson instead of Almonte. Use your best available reliever. Way to go Doc.
Can’t overturn that.
Dodgers rode AMTRAK to Baltimore:

Rats!! Very disappointing. 1 for 11 RISP. 2 thru 5 hitters 0 for 15, 4 K’s.
On to Baltimore to see El Birdos (Cepeda called the Cardinals that, but I’m stealing it 40 years later).
Or as they say in Maryland, “Ballemer.”
Well, fudge.
Scheiße!
Barnes couldn’t have done any worse than that.
I have to take the dog for a walk. Win it for me, please.
Outman at 2nd for the 10th inning.
Dodgers allow more stolen bases per game than any other team.
Paddies finally surrendered to Fillies, 7-6 in the 12th.
Hader blows the save in the 10th.
It’s a byproduct of starting pitchers who don’t go deep into games: Roberts has now gone to the pen 12 times in this series, and we have allowed only two runs.
Given the fragility of the starting pitching, there’s been little alternative.
Yes. We need to pick up another starting pitcher (or two) by the trading deadline.
This is a classic. https://twitter.com/Jolly_Olive/status/1680713858921426945?s=20
Ha!
Gotta love it.
Outman has improved. but he still strikes out nearly 40 percent of his ABs.
He’s in KT3 territory.
Marisnick, our new Gallo.
Just what the doctor ordered: Vesia needed only four pitches to retire the side.
Doc needs to move Muncy down in the batting order. Good grief.
Sorry, but Max should not be batting 3rd or 4th. Although he does have three walks, he is 1-for-11 in this series with five Ks.
You read my mind.
I would move Mookie to the No. 3 hole, IF we had someone else who could lead off and get on base. It’s great that Mookie has 10 leadoff homers this season, but think how many more runs we’d score if there were runners on base.
We need another Brett Butler.
Saw an incredible stat as regards Mookie and leading off. It had to do with how many times the bottom of the order got on base and that half of them were then driven in by Mookie or Freddie.
Bust it open boys…
OK. Mookie, you’re the man.
Clutch!
Outstanding future person!
No complaints from me with Smith as the pinch-hitter.
Barnes should attempt a sacrifice here.
Outman’s selectivity at the plate has improved greatly.
Agreed.
Bullpen in this series: 9 1/3 innings, no runs allowed.
Starting pitchers; 15 2/3 innings, two runs allowed.
That was a 7-pitch inning.
Scherzer ended the 6th inning at 90 pitches. His tops this year is 107. He has gone past the 7th inning only once.
Roberts has now gone to the pen 9 times in this series without using Bickford or Robertson. Are both of them still on the active roster?
Top three in the lineup today: 0-for-7 with 4 Ks and 2 BBs.
What was the injury timeout for?
Miller on the comebacker, though he didn’t appear to be hurt.
Good. Thanks.
I rhink it was an excuse to give Brewster some extra warmup time.
Yanquis lose in Denver on a walk-off by Trejo, who’d gone 120 ABs without a homer so far this year.
¡Miércoles! Shoulda been a 1-2-3 DP!
Settle down Bobby.
No eyes, no ears. What happened, please, on the possible DP?
Walked a batter and hit a batter. He got wild.
Through four innings: Miller 50 pitches, Scherzer 65.
Surprised McNeil didn’t sit out todays game to preserve his batting average. Freaking chicken ____ way to win a batting title.
McNeil is hitting .249, about .130 behind Arráez.
McNeil sat out game or games at the end of last season to win the battle title.
So today’s game is irrelevant. I do recall when Ted Williams played both games of season-ending doubleheader because he didn’t want to hit a rounded-up .400, and he finished at .406.
Sarcasm.
I fail to see the link between what Williams did and what McNeil didn’t.
Paddies in the process of blowing another one to the Fillies.
It is fun watching the Puds, Mets, and Cardinals struggle.
Last-place Yanquis is fun too.
Will be more fun if they fall out of the wild card race.
Keeping in mind Rule #8, I still ask: Why does Barnes have a roster spot?
Good question Scoop. He’s got incriminating photos of AF and Feduccia pissed someone off. LOL. Doesn’t make sense to me. Most claim the pitchers love him. Team chemistry??
He has a decent track record and signed a two-year contract. That said, …
Contract is not the issue. He is on a 2 year/$7M contract. Peanuts.
Agreed. As you posted, bring up Feduccia. What Barnes is making is chicken feed on the Dodgers.
Nimmo, you are Out, man!
What’s wrong with the Mutts’ defense today?
Keep the ball down Bobby.
Let’s whip up on Old Dead Arm Max..
Gametime pushed back to 2:30 pm PDT.
Snakes lose. G’nats win. D’Backs fall to 3rd place.
Bucs blew one. Scrub Jays defanged Snakes.
I don’t think the Bucs “blew” it. They led only once, 1-0, after one inning. The Giants scored three in the second. The Pirates scored single runs in the 6th and 8th to tie the game and send it to the 10th inning.
They had the go-ahead run on third with one out in the eighth, but screwed up two squeezes before a K. Their ace reliever then pitched a 1-2-3 ninth.
But if you don’t have the lead, you can’t blow it.
They were in the driver’s seat, and ran off the road.
