White Sox at Dodgers, 7:10 PM PDT, TV: ESPN
RHP Mike Clevinger (3-4, 4.19 ERA) takes the hill for the White Sox and LHP Clayton Kershaw (8-4, 2.95 ERA) does so for the Dodgers.
The Dodgers activated RHP Shelby Miller from the bereavement list and designated LHP Adam Kolarek for assignment.

- 1948 In front of a crowd of 12,622 at Ebbets Field, Jackie Robinson, who hits a third-inning two-run homer, and Cleveland’s Larry Doby, the only two African-Americans big leaguers, play against each other for the first time. In the Sunday evening charity exhibition game, the Dodgers best the first-place Indians, 6-2, raising $15,000 for the Brooklyn Amateur Baseball Federation, which benefits sandlot ballplayers in Flatbush.
- 2003 After being activated from the disabled list by the Dodgers, first baseman Fred McGriff bats cleanup and goes 2-for-4 in his return against the Padres. It was the Crime Dog’s first trip to the DL during his 18-year career.
- 2010 After just seven days in the major leagues, Stephen Strasburg is named National League Player of the Week. The Nationals’ right-handed flamethrower starts his career 2-0 with 22 strikeouts, second to only Karl Spooner, who fanned five more batters in his first two major league starts with the Dodgers in 1954.

NPUT
2 more walks and then back to back blasts – and Bob’s your uncle.
Good grief. What was Doc thinking.
Why Doc? Looks to me like the problem is the pitching.
Stuck with AF’s crummy bullpen.
I always cut Doc some slack, but one inning should be enough for Yency.
Clevinger hurt. Right arm and it looks bad.
One too many twitches.
On the brighter side, Fillies now lead 3-0 after seven.
What a sickening loss. Relievers allow six runs in the last two innings? Friedman can’t wait until the trading deadline to make bullpen changes. And it won’t be easy. Good available relievers don’t grow on trees.
This bullpen…
Sucks
Very disappointing.
Tomorrow.
Spanish-language feed crashed and I had to switch to Steiner.
Don’t love the Dodgers chances. But you never know.
We’re hosed.
4 + 1
Tough night. 2 decent relievers and 3 bad ones is not a winning formula.
This ones on Doc. Miller and Phillips available.
Miller is never going to pitch in relief.
Shelby
sigh
Today was almost as aggravating as yesterday, but then the Dodgers bailed me out. Today they’re failing.
What’s been aggravating you?
Horrendous customer service on a car insurance claim.
Brutal
Adjuster does not return calls.
“Gods don’t answer letters.”
Updike on Ted Williams.
Bullpen strikes again.
The game seems long. Like 2022 long.
Coming up on three hours.
At least we caught someone stealing.
Well, I guess we know what AF needs to address at the trade deadline. Fix the crummy bullpen.
¡Miércoles! Literalmente y lunfardo.
Vesia still sucks.
I can’t decide whether it’s worse to watch it or be blacked out.
Bullpen’s not holding leads as it’s supposed to.
Oh fer goodness sake!
There goes the W for Kershaw.
Fillies recover to defang Snakes.
CT3 at least making more contact.
Is Outman the next Billy Ashley??
What’s happened to him happens to lots of rookies that eventually regain their footing.
I am rooting for the kid. I hope he can make the necessary adjustments.
The tough thing is that he is not really a typical rookie “kid”. He is 26 already.
Kershaw at 2905 K’s.
Well, Kersh is in line for the win if the bullpen comes thru.
Other than leaving the bases full a good inning.
Good inning, but coulda been much better. Meanwhile, Fillies have taken lead over Snakes in the tenth.
JD not having his best night.
Up to Jake Peralta.
Ok. Let’s turn this good inning into a great one.
Oh JD. Not a good at bat.
He really flailed at that last pitch.
Kimbrel miraculously pitches a scoreless ninth, and Fillies and Snakes go to extras.
Rib breaker now pitching
He earned some credibility as a Dodger.
Mookie!
Says hello to the Mariachi!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7lpjP-T97o
Okay Mook and Freddie. Stand and deliver.
Really need Mook and Freddie to come thru.
Bye bye Bummer.
No idea what the White Sox manager was so upset about, but it was entertaining to watch!
Do you miss the Martin, Piniella blow ups. I do.
Weaver!
Mysterious fussing going on
Come on gameday – bases are loaded – you can’t have in play no outs
Run
Exactly. With bases loaded it either has to be an out or run(s)
Gameday is a total mess.
Big bats bludgeoning the ball.
Let’s go Barnsie.
Who loves you?
My family! Lol
We do to Dave.
Verrry interesting…
Outman then the Dodgers big hitters coming up: Rojas and Barnes!
Outman is due. Rojas and Barnes are not
Gameday psyched me out. It said in play no outs when it should have said in play, run(s)
Setting things up again!
Rojas got three tries to get Burger out and third time was the charm.
Sweet!!
Single out please.
single play?
Double play please.
This does not feel like one that will end up in the win column for the Dodgers.
Gotta to beleaf
Hoping for reverse psychology!
Gotta hold them here.
Rojas the slugger has taken away the defensive prowess of Rojas the slick fielding infielder.
Two mental errors by Rojas. Should have backhanded the ground ball and should have thrown to first instead of to Betts.
0 for 7, 6 LOB. Sigh.
Dbacks just tied the game. Sigh.
Clevinger to Santos: that was basically my strikeout of JD.
That was special
Well they got Clevinger out of the game.
Betts and Freeman knock out Clevenger.
So, the best two hitters flop.
Let’s go Barnes. Dodgers get things set up.
Yeah, but…
Bad past person.
Mookie and Freddie really not helping. Geeze.
You’ve got to be kidding. Good grief.
Alright Barnsy.
Kershaw trying for gold glove this year.
Barnes is in Eugenio Velez territory.
This is mere curiosity and I’m not suggesting it as anything more than imaginary exercise:
I wonder what the Rangers would trade the Dodgers to get Kershaw? (Yes I’m aware Kershaw is a free agent at the end of the year.)
Austin. Does Texas have anything else?
I’ve spent two nights in Texas in my life. The first under a freeway overpass in Amarillo, the second listening to music on Sixth Street. https://livesessions.npr.org/videos/terry-allen-amarillo-highway
Curious about the overpass.
Underpass, in retrospect. I was hitchhiking back from the East.
Cool.
Hitching I would guess.
Gotta take Barnes, Syndergaard, and Taylor in the deal.
What a great play by Kershaw.
Kershaw losing command
Then makes a circus cacth/throw
How can you walk Elvis Andrus TWICE?
Hard for even Kershaw to win a game where the Dodgers don’t score runs. So maybe do something about that in the next part of the game Dodgers.
Game is on ESPN now.
I’m watching on ESPN2. Yankees and Mets were on ESPN.
I should have tried that! I believed the guide…
I just happened to notice a note on bottom right of TV that briefly showed the change.
You mean it’s blacked out.
Oh man. Steinered beyond belief.
Yep. Leo Durocher too.
At least the Spanish-language broadcast calls it correctly.
“And we’ve got ourselves a… catch at the wall.”
We have a… (bet $ he was about to say tie game)… catch at the wall.
On the bright side, Fillies lead Pads 2-0 after 5-1/2.
Ok Dodger hitters. Start hitting.
Are you watching with me or gamedaying.
Gamedaying here. Has anybody else had the problem of Gameday crashing on the iPad and requiring you to open the app again?
Gamedaying as well.
Bah.
Yup. Exactly.
Very bad future person – when we’re blacked out, you can’t do this to us!
I’m watching GameDay. No eyes either! And listening to the radio…
I feel like a service dog
Ha!
Giolito being interviewed. Grew up going to Dodger games.
ESPN doesn’t even show highlights on Gameday.
Giolito was 11-9 in 2021. He was also 11-9 in 2022. So far this year he is 5-4 – which is pretty much how you go 11-9 once again.
W-L doesn’t mean that much.
It determines who gets into the playoffs
Could have been worse. Wish it were better though.
No first inning runs!?
I feel cheated.
KT3
CT3 swinging away. Just didn’t make contact.
40% Strike Out Rate.

Tonight’s the beginning of a four-blackouts in five games stretch. Thanks, MLBTV! Thanks, ESPN!
hate not be able to see seeing Klayton, but no access for me either right now.
Radio about a minute delayed for me!
I’ve tried both English and Spanish.
