  1. Going into Sweet Sixteen, average pick percentage of the group is over 80%, which is pretty, pretty good. We are smart and lucky!

  2. Just watched Game 2 of the Tokyo Dome series. Disappointed that Ichiro didn’t get the game-winning hit to go out in style.

  3. ESPN Mad Libs:

But we still believe in this dumb sport. We believe in Yasiel Puig’s imagination, and we believe that putting him in Cincinnati will be like dropping Marty McFly into the 1950s. We believe this year Puig will carry a (ANIMAL SMALLER THAN YOUR FIST) __________ in his back pocket — he’ll name it (PERSON YOU’D PUT ON A POSTAGE STAMP) __________ — and whenever he slides, we’ll hold our breath, imagining crushed fur or feathers, until Puig pulls the little guy out, hale and strong, and nuzzles its head.

Read the whole column, it’s clever.

  4. Just watched the M’s and the A’s from Tokyo, which started at 6:30 a.m. Chilean time. Ex-Gnat Strickland, who made himself persona non grata in SF, got the save v. the Atléticos’ big sluggers.

  5. SI has suggestions for your bracket. Not teams, but theories like

    1. Pick at least one (and probably two) No. 12 or No. 13 seeds to win at least one game
    2. Pick at least one double-digit seed to make the Sweet 16
    3. Do not blindly trust the No. 1 seeds
    4. Don’t get too crazy
    5. Have fun!

  6. Oh great! That time of the year again when we get to make fools out of ourselves while waiting for baseball season to begin.

      • Against my better judgement, I will play. Using my better judgement I will lose.

  7. I never have any idea what I’m doing. But I’ve heard good things about Duke.
