Game 77, 2014

Dodgers at Padres, 1:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FSSD

Hyun-Jin Ryu goes for the Dodgers against old acquaintance Eric Stults. Ryu has an 8-3 record with a 3.18 ERA this season. Past history with the Padres? He’s 1-0 with a 0.68 ERA in two career starts. Stults has had a miserable year so far: he’s 2-9 with a 5.76 ERA, and he’s given up 15 dingers in 75 innings.

  1. Dodgers can probably count on Romo, but they still need to improve the ‘pen – preferably by jettisoning Maholm and Pérez.

  2. On to Kansas City. May the Dodgers keep on rolling, and the Royals stay cooled off. (But I’m not counting on it… no expectations!)

  3. A good day. The Dodgers win (as do the Giants, unfortunately) and Michelle Wie won her first major tournament, winning the Women’s US Open by two strokes.

  4. Interesting — was it something Honeycutt found . . . or with no room for error (or walks), Kenley was tougher?
Either way, let’s hope he repeats it with each appearance!

  5. Just checking in.

Sad to see the offense has regressed, but hopefully Kenley can step up again . . . no wriggle room!
    Nice start, KJ!

  6. Romak is a nice story, making it to the majors after all those years in the minors, but I don’t think he should be on this team.

  7. Given how our bullpen has fared in the last two games — 5 earned runs in 5 1/3 innings — I’d like a few more runs.

  8. Gnats get a hit, but Bolsinger has still faced minimum on 45 pitches through four.

  9. Old Friend Stults entered the game with an ERA of 5.76, the highest in the league among those who have enough innings pitched to this point to be in line for the ERA crown.
