Game Eight, 2014

Giants at Dodgers, 5:00PM PST, ESPN2.

Zack Greinke goes for the Dodgers and Matt Cain goes for the Giants. Oddly, they have identical ERAs of 3.60 for the young season. Greinke has a win and Cain has no record.

Lineup:

Hmm. No Puig. From a tweet an hour after the lineup was posted: “Don Mattingly: Yasiel Puig is on his way to get an MRI. We don’t expect it to be anything major. X-rays were negative.”

  1. I would feel better about Puig if Mattingley hadn’t said it wasn’t serious.

  2. That’s a great stat about Zack — 7-0 when pitching following a loss. With the lack of run support for him last year, I wonder if Kersh was that successful.

  3. Apparently, the link I posted below didn’t work, but there’s a documentary on the 1955 Dodgers tonight at 11 pm on KQED-Plus (see http://www.kqed.org/tv/ and open the schedule for KQED-Plus). I believe it’s streamable if you’re not in the Bay Area).

  4. Not a “save” opportunity, but I’m not complaining — especially with another off day manana.

  5. Hanley!
    A healthy HanRam AND Bison . . . that’s what I’ve been hoping for!

  6. I like the idea of Kemp at 6th (it is obviously working today) I think it lengthens the possible threats down our batting order

      • Let’s have a foot race from 1st to 3rd between Puig Kemp Ramirez Gonzalez and hit them 2nd through 4th from fastest to slowest.

  7. I believe that Cain is WBBsAs’ favorite giants pitcher to find contemptible.
