Dodgers at Giants, 1:10 PM PDT, TV: NBCS BA, SPNLA
The visiting Dodgers send LHP Julio Urias (6-1, 3.04 ERA) to the mound to face the Giants’ RHP Anthony DeSclafani (4-1, 2.03 ERA). Urias has had great success against the Giants in his young career: in fifteen appearances (nine starts) against them he’s got an ERA of 2.12 and has held them to a .231 BA.
Today in Dodgers’ history:
- 2002 Shawn Green hits four home runs in one game to become the 14th player in major league history, the second this month, to accomplish the feat. The Dodger right fielder’s 6-for-6 performance in Milwaukee’s Miller Park, which also includes a single and double, breaks Joe Adcock’s 1954 mark for total bases by one, with a total of 19. In the same game the Dodgers set a franchise mark when the team hits eight homers in one contest, bashing the Brewers, 16-3. Shawn Green’s four round-trippers accounts for half of the record-breaking barrage with Brian Jordan, Hiram Bocachica, Adrian Beltre, and Dave Hansen also contributing four-baggers in the Miller Park contest.

Milwaukee beat San Diego, 5-3, tonight (Monday), snapping the Padres’ winning streak at nine. The Dodgers are now one-half game out of first.
This evening, ideally, Dodgers will take over undisputed first place for good.
I’m champing at the bit for this one today.
Dodgers can’t seem to handle having big leads…
Great job Julio.
Off the bat, that had me nervous.
Leading 4-3 in the ninth, the bases loaded with Devil Rays, the Scrub Jays brought in an ex-Gnat reliever who walked home three straight runs.
Late lineup change. Mookie sits again, Peters returns. Jimmy Nelson also goes on IL. https://twitter.com/DodgerInsider/status/1396549420645117956?s=20
No Peters today… https://twitter.com/Dodgers/status/1396522100127453187?s=20
Bill Shaikin – in 48 hrs the giants have gone from the team with the best record in the major leagues to the team in third place in the National League West.

Yahoo!
Woo-HOO!!!
Well, that was nice.
Yippee!! Sweep!!
Dodgers win!
OK, Santana, that’s enough!
Good Grief!!
OK, Uceta, that’s enough!
The Asterisks have gotten swept in DFW, which also pleases me.
Hopefully they lose their next 2 as well – and then win 3 in a row right after that.
In San Diego, the M’s have folded in the sixth.
Padres go on the road for 10 vs Milwaukee, Houston and Chicago (Cubs). Hopefully they hit a rough patch there.
They’re overdue for a rough stretch.
Pads have played only 19 of their 47 games on the road. The Dodgers have played 25 of their 47 away from Dodger Stadium.
Yep. Pretty much saw that coming.
Dang.
Muncy just increased his MLB-leading walks total to 40.
On pace for 120+.
He could do it.
With 40 walks in the Dodgers’ 47th game (today), he is on pace to have 137.87 walks.
The M’s have tied up the Pads after five, and now have a leadoff 2B in the sixth.
Julio cruising
An understatement. Very low pitch count after five.
Lux!
Fiat Lux!

The Gnats are regressing to the mean even more quickly than we anticipated.
Julio doing his Ohtani act today.
I have been watching the game while doing dishes and didn’t want to interrupt the Dodgers as they were hitting. But Lux’s GS was worthy of taking my hands out of the hot soapy water!
Luxurious!
Kaboom!
I am enjoying the old death by a 1000 papercuts kind of scorign in this inning.
Er, no longer nibbling… 😉
Yes…..poor table manners, but I forgive.
¡Julito!
Heckuva change-up by Urias to strike out Yaz’ grandson on a 3-2 pitch in the first.
Missed it because today’s a blackout.

I was out of the loop Saturday as I umpired a girls’ (14-and-under) softball doubleheader. Tiring, but fun. Thanks to stretching enough during the week, I am able to walk around well today. Subtract that horrid 5-15 stretch, which, of course, we cannot, and the Dodgers are 23-3. Roberts, whom I often criticize, made a wise move by going with a bullpen game Thursday against Arizona and moving back Bauer to Friday instead of having the bullpen game against the Giants. The Giants, on the other hand, had to have a bullpen game yesterday and it cost them. Among other things, it is great to see Muncy hitting as he is capable of and Jansen looking like the Jansen we came to love…I don’t know if the following has been posted about Scott Kazmir: https://www.dodgersnation.com/dodgers-are-paying-8-million-to-giants-starter-scott-kazmir/2021/05/22/
