Dodgers at Cubs, 2:05PM PT, TV: SPNLA, WGN
Alex Wood (1-3, 4.03 ERA) pitches for the Dodgers while Jason Hammel (6-1, 2.17 ERA) goes for the Cubs. Those are gaudy numbers, but in his career he’s 2-6 with a 4.93 ERA in 16 games (12 starts) against the Dodgers. Wood is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in five games (two starts) against the Cubs.

A lot of frustrating losses, but all in all, May has not been as bad as it seemed to us. We win today and the month would be the equivalent to a 92 win pace,
Dullest game of the year, but still better than the best soccer game.
Only the second time we have been shutout this season. For all the early season scoring we had last year, by this time then (52 games), we had been shutout 5 times.
Oh. Well.

Cubs look mighty impressive this year.
If we don’t get to the WS I hope they do.
I was just thinking the same thing.
Anyone – and I mean anyone – to stop San Fran getting there.
I do as well, though winning the WS made Red Sox Nation an unbearable lot.
In the last 18 innings the Dodgers have played the Cubs they’ve gotten one hit.
I feel a minimum of sadness about today’s game. Winning the series in NYC has a one game goodwill carry over I guess.
Coulda been a sweep!
Or not…
It don’t get any easier. Arrieta tomorrow and Lester on Wednesday. Hendricks (whom I’ve never heard of) Thursday.
Alex Guerrero might not be able to help this team.
But it seems his batting would fit right in.
Who?

I still think we can pull off a win here.
“A bloop and a blast!”
Wood vs. Wood?
Yep. Our Wood has 5Ks and 3BBs on his ledger at this point.
Hammel pulled after two with a leg cramp.
Harry Caray was occasionally entertainingly senile – “Mike Pizza” or “Delino DeSanders,” anyone? – but I certainly don’t miss him.
