Dodgers at D-Backs, 5:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FS-A
Mike Bolsinger makes another spot start for the Dodgers. He’s been pretty effective for them this season at 6-3 with a 2.97 ERA. He once played for the Diamondbacks and has faced them twice this year, giving up two runs and six hits in eleven innings. Rubby De La Rosa will pitch for the Arizona team; he’s 12-7 with a 4.49 ERA. He pitched for the Dodgers in 2011-2012, going 4-5 as a starter before being traded to the Red Sox in the Crawford-Gonzalez deal.

Funny, haven’t heard Ned’s name mentioned for any of the GM vacancies open or soon to be open…
In the best scenario, Sabean retires and SF quickly nabs Ned to replace him due to his former Gnat ties, thinking he’s a can’t miss replacement.
Greatly worried they may lose such an invaluable employee, the Dodgers offer Ned a new title, Vice-President of Irrelevancy, in a futile attempt to retain him.
Meanwhile, back in the real world…
Naturally, I was being sarcastic. It is apparent everyone but Frank McCourt knew him for the zero he was/is. I can’t understand why the Dodgers keep him around, even if they have to pay him. Pay him off and cut him loose, he’s an embarrassment. Unless it’s like keeping a monkey in a cage for amusement…
He’s better than Jim Bowden.
Why am I not surprised?
Meanwhile, early this afternoon: https://twitter.com/truebluela/status/643105625564676096
I think maybe Grandal should have been DLed a couple of weeks ago. I think that would have been more beneficial than the limited playing he has done.
With expanded rosters, it was pointless to do so.
The Blue Jays have designed Scott Copeland for assignment, as Shi Davidi of Sportsnettweets. The move will create room for the newly acquired Darwin Barney on the teamโs 40-man roster.
It would be nice to watch a ballgame this afternoon but the MLB Blackout Rules prevent it. Research indicates Southern Nevada is in Broadcast Territory claimed by SIX MLB teams: Dodgers, Angels, Padres, Giants, As, and Diamondbacks and, therefore, subject to blackouts by all. What’s that add up to, about 3/4 of the Dodger’s schedule? With Dish I get MLB-TV free but the blackout rule applies. I really don’t know how that works, I get most of the games when they play Anaheim, S.F., S.D. but none from Phoenix and only some from back east. Also get a few games on ESPN, MLB Channel, Fox, and TBS. Altogether maybe 30% of the games. Guess I can’t complain…
Yesterday, MLBTV told me the Bay Area was in the Toronto/NYC blackout area in the morning, but I was able to watch game two of their doubleheader in the afternoon. The blackout rules make no sense and, sooner rather than later, they’re gonna go.
The below-listed Club(s) is within the searched home television territory (Hawai’i), and MLB.TV is subject to blackout for all regular season live games for these Club(s):
Oakland Athletics
Seattle Mariners
San Francisco Giants
San Diego Padres
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
Los Angeles Dodgers
We’re probably 4000 miles apart, and we share 5 blackouts. You have Seattle whereas I have Phoenix. Perhaps I better alert Phoenix so they can add you to their list…
This is truly preposterous.
Right. Because I’m very likely to walk up to one of those stadiums at game time. Occasionally there’s a screech of anger directed its way but so far MLB doesn’t care.

Huzzah, late. Cheeseburgers and home fries and then cleaning up afterwards wait for no fan.
Jansen was pretty much throwing cheese as well.
JP the Vulture.
One pitch wonder!
We win. Magic number 14.
21 games left.
With only 21 games left, the season seems to be winding up more than winding down, though I am starting to get nostalgic about it.
Nostalgic? About what, in particular?
The whole thing. The ups the downs…
Woo-HOO!!!!!!!!!
So – Peralta or Jansen?
Jansen was the right call with who’s up.
I’m feeling better.
AG!
Grandal walking twice, at least.
His swings looked better tonight.
I think he will turn out OK ๐
Seager! Wow.
It is sad that it can’t always be this easy for Seager. But I love his play right now!
The big part of the lineup is up in the ninth!
If Seager keeps this up, Jimmy’s finger may stay jammed a little longer.
Melvin Upton breaks up the no-no with a single.
Is it wrong to be happy about that? Is it wrong to not want the Giants do have nice things?
Is it wrong to specifically not want BadGums not to have nice things?
Guilty on all counts…
Thanks for saying that! ๐
8 might not be enough so let’s get some more here Dodgers.
No such luck.
Back to biting my nails.
C’mon, Garcia. Get the third out, please. I can’t relax with these D-backs.
And we thought it was tense before!
Okay, I can breathe again.
For a few minutes anyways!
Ain’t it the truth.
BadGums interesting through seven now.
I’d like to see it broken up with a bunt, followed by a dinger.
Yes, please.
Pads hitting not quite as impressive as the D’Backs that’s for sure.
And I would love to see it broken up anyway possible. Maybe HBP. Then a HR.
Maybe this long bottom of the seventh will mess with BadGum’s timing.
Why didn’t the D-backs do better this year? Their offense is amazing.
They didn’t face inconsistent Dodger starters all year?
They are first in offense in the National League. Not just against us…
Their pitching has been erratic, but they’re on the upswing and I expect them to finish second to the Dodgers next year.
Ugh. Peralta again. I think he’s still mad about that foul ball the fan caught.
Oh well, 3-4.
Ump has been calling that wide ball a strike on lefties. Really frustrated Joc.
Pederson and Seager both 3-3.
Giants are winning the game up north and Bad Gums is being extra special tonight.
Seager has such a good eye.
Ethier showing his lefty on lefty skills.
Nice to get the k but still gave up a run.
Yes! Great pitch to get Goldie out, finally.
Wow. Looks like I missed some great action tonight! HR’s! Slump busting HR’s. Rookie HR’s.
Tense right now, though.
True.
Okay, now this guy’s parents have chutzpah. Socrates as a first name?
See Seager four sacker.
Huh?
I am watching sporadically
Avilan, Baez, Garcia, Hatcher. Mattingly, don’t use all your relief pitchers in one game, okay?
He made need to, the way they keep coming at us!
AZ not shy about scoring runs that’s for sure!
Crawford with “right hamstring tightness.” Hammy again. And again. And again.
Dodgers are being hamstrung!
I blame the Commissioner!
Uh oh. Why is Schebler in and Crawford out of the game?
Massive coronary?
“Be still my heart.”
You’re not a fan?
Just speculating. He’s horribly overpaid, but has some value.
Well, blame the Red Sox for his salary, not the Dodgers.
Not complaining, just acknowledging.
Right hamstring tightness, Steiner just told us. The year of…
Do these guys not stretch before games this year?
Right before that, a D-backs fan leaned over and caught a foul ball, his mitt right over all three of the D-back’s players. And Peralta, I think, was pissed. Then, the HR.
It was a catchable ball. I think any fan who interferes in that manner should be ejected from the ball park.
Seems to me they usually are.
The laughter at Peralta didn’t help. I’d be furious as well.
Silent treatment for the rookie. Then they’re all over him.
Seager!!!!
Keep scoring, guys.
Crawford!
Was that a tough catch?
Soft fly ball. Pederson couldn’t get there. Crawford ran diagonally to catch it. Perfect angle.
Thanks
A good effort.
Tying run to the plate. Good grief. Latos, then Wood, now Bolsinger.
The D-backs are a truly tough offense right now. They read his breaking balls perfectly the third time through.
Howell on the hot seat.
Calm down, Bolsinger. Big lead here.
He didn’t hear you.
Well, I doubt he reads my blog even when he’s not working.
My goodness, Toronto is whomping the Yankees in the 2nd game of their doubleheader after beating them badly in the first one. That’ll expand the division lead and push the Yanks closer to their competitors for the wild cards.
See that Joc has joined the dinger parade!
OK, my playoff roster. Feel free to post your own but don’t bother trying to change my mind…
Kershaw
Greinke
Anderson
Bolsinger
6 relief pitchers
Ellis
Grandal
Agon
Kendrick
Rollins
Turner
Ethier
Pederson
Puig
SVS
Crawford
Ruggiano
KiKi
Seager
Utley
Remember you can change after the first round.
Quique and Puig are questionable because of hamstring issues.
Any of them are subject to injury. It is posted in cyberspace, not etched in stone….
Forgot! I got sidetracked by college football!
Hmm. 4-0 lead? Maybe I should stay in forgetting mode.
Handegg would never sidetrack me from baseball.
Gotta root for the home school. They lost to Ohio State, but they weren’t embarrassed. Two late TDs off mistakes made the score bigger than it should have been.
I haven’t been to a handegg match since high school. Zero interest.
nice start all round
Elite defense in CF!
Just following sporadically. Another lead off dinger!
Non-Ruggiano category…
Eleventh inning at Yanqui Stadium is pure comedy, as Jays score three runs on bases-loaded walks. Toronto pinch-runner Dalton Pompey, who scored earlier in the inning, just got pinch-hit for.
Not that I care but what happened to the lineup I posted?
I did NOT remove it. Beats me. I’ll look later.
It’s in the previous post’s comments.
Foubd it. Posted it in previous thread. Senility jokes are in order…
I hope Grandal is truly well enough to start contributing again. Hard to quibble with Seager in the lineup, but I think the team is better off when Rollins is also healthy.
Best situation might be Seaver at Third, Rollins at Short, Turner at Second. My longstanding dislike for Crawford goes without saying…
Turner is not a good 2B.
Fellow here (http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/62758/five-big-names-who-could-be-traded-in-the-offseason) mentions 5 star players who could be traded. The key word is “could”. One of them is Puig and another who might come here to replace him is… Giancarlo Stanton! That’s almost scarey…
Link, I know NPUT is a Jon Weisman tradition but did you ever consider just putting in a link to the new post? Labor saving device…
Four keystrokes for NPUT, fiddly cut n’ paste the other way.
Nah, this way we keep the household gods happy. ๐
I was thinking of my labor, not yours…
