Ooph. I see that we had another clunker. This offense is not showing up, and the pitching isn’t much better.
This one is on Doc. He left Treinen in after he walked 3 batters. Offense was once again a no show.
Hate it when Doc does that!
In the four games since we beat the Rangers, 15-2, we've accumulated nine runs.
Rule One Violation.
Not going to lie – this Dodger team is confusing to me right now. I can’t figure them out from one night to the next, one series to the next.
Exactly! Just came back from dinner, still in Colorado. Wondered which team would
be playing – the good one or the terrible one.
Inconsistent, erratic, mysterious, confounding, unreliable and several more adjectives.
I think I was rooting for Miggy to NOT get a hit there. Why ruin your perfect 19-0 W-L record when you get a hit?
Interesting way to look at it.
We really need Muncy back.
Now 22.22222222222% of the game left to win this game.
Seriously, I like your optimism and hope.
There went another perfect ERA.
Yep, this Biggio thing is working out. We need Muncy back.
Gotta hold'em here to have any chance at a comeback..
A third of the game left to do it.
Not looking good even if we had 2 thirds of the game left.
It's the calm before the storm
Lets hope so.
It's Saturday evening. We should be at the game or a movie or out to dinner.
Today is the third game out of the last 4 where the Dodgers have given up either a 3 run or a 4 run home run.
Thirty-nine pitches, Has Treinen thrown more this season?
Double the pitch count of his highest previous outing.
And just back from the IL
Wow. He walked three straight and Doc didn’t do what he needed to do. Sorry, friends, but I have never been a devoted fan of how Doc manages pitchers. We’re fortunate that the NL West is weak. Our postseason foes won’t be, if we get there.
Yamamoto only going 2 innings made this a back-to-back bullpen game.
This one is on Doc. Any manager with half a brain would have taken Trienen out after the 3rd walk.
That’s one way to give up your first earned runs of the season.
Now it's the Dodgers turn to score on their bullpen.
Way to go Doc.
Worst possible outcome
The batter kept fouling pitches out of the strike zone.
That hurts.
Dang
So many pitches for Blake.
Not too many of them strikes
Humph…let’s go Blake.
Puds and Gnats both lost today. House money. Cheating Astros got the crap beat out of them. I hope this is the start of a steep decline for the cheaters.
Ohtani needs a day or two off.
It takes two to agree on close strikes. Maybe protect the plate on the very close ones?
Yes. Ump is calling everything close a strike tonight.
Not everything.
Explain.
Rameriz and Barnes thought they had a strike out a moment ago.
It's like a true false type test and the wise answer is false when always and never is used.
LOL. That is how I made the Deans List. Well, partly. I did have a good understanding of the material being tested.
No DP and no K
Sitting in my recliner, the hbp worked
Triceps tightness is the latest news on Yamamoto.
Sounds as if it could be worse.
Well, something is up with Yamamoto.
Tightness
Biggio got hosed by the ump.
Yamamoto is injured?
What happened?
Orel says he didn’t see anything.
Ugh. Looks like it.
Lets get some early runs.
From Dodgers.com:
RHP Bobby Miller (right shoulder inflammation). Expected return: Next week in Colorado. Miller made his final rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on June 13, allowing five runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings. While the results weren’t good for Miller, the Dodgers will insert him back into the rotation for the upcoming series against the Rockies at Coors Field. With Miller back in the rotation, the Dodgers will, at least temporarily, go with a six-man rotation. (Last updated: June 14)
I umpired a high school all-star game in Monterey last night from behind the plate. One of the starting pitchers was throwing harder than in any of the hundreds of games I have called over 22 seasons. Starting at the high school level, including freshmen ball, the mound is the same 60 feet, 6 inches, as it is in pro baseball. I am astonished at the skill it takes to hit the ball and even more astonished by what it must have been like to face Sandy Koufax, Juan Marichal, Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, and on and on. Is there anything more difficult to do in sports?
I think I would keep my shoulder in longer against Koufax than I would Ryan.
Bumsrap: Thanks for your reference to Gil Stratton last night. He used to be part of the L.A. Rams' TV broadcasts when I was growing up in L.A. But he was also a college hockey goalie, an actor of some renown, a minor league umpire and a sportscaster. His favorite phrase: "time to call 'em as I see 'em,." He had the great role of Cookie in Stalag 17, starring William Holden, and one of my favorite films. Holden won the Best Actor Oscar in 1954 for that film. Stratton and I share cities of birth: Brooklyn. Stratton's Wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gil_Stratton
I miss the local LA news and sports broadcasts from my youth. I looked him up before I asked the question and was surprised at the extent of his background. I didn't remember Jerry Dunphy's name as well as Stratton's but I do remember his opening line: “From the desert to the sea to all of Southern California,”
“A very good evening. Topping the news…”
Ohio Dodger: The Guess Who's greatest hits CD arrived and I have listened to it. I had forgotten how many great hits they had. Burton Cummings had/has a tremendous voice. I didn't realize that Randy Bachman (later part of Bachman-Turner-Overdrive) was a guitarist for Guest Who.
Winnipeg Dave: The Guess Who formed in Winnipeg in 1965, but you may have known that already.
Glad you enjoyed it Scoop. I had their Greatest Hits on Cassette back in the 80's. I have it on CD now. Check out Gord's Gold. Greatest hits of Gordon Lightfoot.
Yup. I’m familiar with the Guess Who. Winnipeg actually punches above their (per capita) weight class when it comes to music: Neil Young, BTO (Bachman Turner Overdrive), Crash Test Dummies, The Wailin’ Jennys, The Weakerthans, The Watchman, etc.
Gavin giveth.
He almost did in his earlier at bat as well

American woman – stay away from me!
No time left for me.
That’s not because you’re Canadian? LOL.
