Aloha Steve
Oh no?
Aloha is the Hawaiian word for love, affection, peace, compassion and mercy, that is commonly used as a greeting. It has a deeper cultural and spiritual significance to native Hawaiians, for whom the term is used to define a force that holds together existence. Wikipedia
Mutts blowing one big time v. Gnats.
Maybe the Giants are better than we estimated. They have staged a few late-game rallies to win lately.
Gnats tried to give it back in ninth, but couldn’t quite get it done. Sooner rather than later, though, they’ll regress to the mean.
Giants won, 8-7. Mets had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the ninth but failed to tie or win.
Game is in the balance Doc, use a high leverage reliever. The game is not always decided in the 9th inning.
Buck Farmer is an unfortunate Spoonerism.
Nice come back. Bottom of the order comes thru.
OKC just won their game on three BBs and a walk-off K.
Well, should be the last we see of Ramirez.
And his 8.71 ERA.
Vesia packed his bags.
Blake Smell’s ERA is 11.40.
And that’s that.
That’s one.
I texted Link with a long message last night, saying some of us were praying, others hoping, and also saying that the Dodgers could use him to play the outfield. I received a Thank You this afternoon.
Great to hear!
So did I.
I’ve seen enough of this Fairchild guy.
We seem to be picking up a number of uninspiring relievers whose performances have been just that. We need our regular middle relievers to get well. Soon.
Seems to me, Doc should have used one of his more high leverage relievers in that situation..
Doc often fails to manage pitchers well. We have seen that frequently in the post-season
Dodgers will not win another WS with Doc at the helm. He is a front office sycophant and does not have a feel for game situations. Just what is on his script from the higher ups who also don’t have a clue.
I agree, unfortunately.
I disagree. As long as he has the trust of his players – a huge factor in a 162-game season – the post-season is now a devalued crapshoot. I value the regular season much more than the mild-card tournament.
Mr. I don’t look like a baseball player hits the GS
He’s been Rookie of the Year – there’s still talent.
I see a DFA in the works.
And we have let better options opt out.
Next up for Friedman finding a cheap reliever.
We just saw him.
Unintentional revenge with hbp?
Frying pan into fire pitching.
I can throw strikes better than that.
Batting practice strikes?
Whoa. Sorry I saw that.
I have grandkids here so only peeking now and again. Go Dodgers!
Rats!
¡Miércoles de viernes!
Si Si.
A Willy Dilly.
Maybe KT3 is changing his approach. 2 AB’s and didn’t strike out. And a huge 2 rbi double.
Paxton was having trouble throwing strikes in the first inning and Rojas visited the mound. Paxton then through a strike or two and Joe said good mound visit by Rojas. Then on the next pitch, Paxton gives up a 3 run home run. Maybe Joe should have added, bad mound visit.
Maybe he should have said, don’t leave fastballs right in the middle of the plate.
Dodgers are finding spots to land their contact.
Except for Freddie.
CT2RBI!
Taylor Made a comeback
Might Joe refer to the Reds pitcher as Graham? I’m already tired of hearing Ashcraft. Sounds like a Rule 1 violation.
Too bad he’s from Alabama. If he were from Georgia he could be Graham Cracker.
https://sylvestersrestaurant.com/our-history/
I’ve eaten there and they provide interesting stories about Graham.
I’ve not eaten Graham crackers since I was a kid, and I would never support Prohibition.
Got a brief text message from Link thanking us for our concern. Meanwhile, I also received this from Hendley. https://x.com/AP/status/1794005431695581438

Just when you think it can’t get any worse…
LOL. Thanks, I needed that.
A thoroughly disappointing effort all around.
That’s all she wrote. Night all. Think good thoughts for our Link.
Pages is lost.
Following in Outman’s footsteps.
Being outscored in this series, 17-9, and six of our runs came in one inning on Monday.
We are officially slumping.
A nice way of saying, Sucking.
Trying not to even come close to violating Rule 1!
Hit the first one hard.
Pretty funny to bring CT3 in here as a pinch hitter.
Game is for all purposes over. Might as well get him an AB. At least he didn’t strike out.
Freddie is in a funk..
Just ain’t our night.
Yarbs is rusty I think.
He’s been a steady presence in his role.
Sigh.
Second Smith passed ball. Sheesh.
This must be ugliest game of the year.
I agree. Nothing working.
Nice catch Kiké! He’s really doing well at third.
That seems like a not tonight Dodgers HR by Marte.
Funny.
Yarbs is so clutch*.
*Not actually a “clutch” situation tonight. But I do appreciate him.
He has done well.
Dodgers better on the road?
Making it worse is that I have to listen to the Arizona broadcasters.
I’m not in love with Stephen Nelson but yeah – I’m sure you have it worse.
You could mute and listen to Dodgers radio.
I can’t pick it up here.
Pages having trouble hitting the ball out of the infield, when he isn’t striking out.
Outman is like “not so easy is it rook”. I mean probably not but it’s true.
Or at least kinda true.
Wow. What a stinkeroo of a game.
Yeah, not seeing us winning this one. But you never know, right?
Right. We aren’t totally out of it. Three more shots.
Odds are not good however.
Ridiculous DP.
Yep. Unusual.
You don’t see that everyday.
Anybody else have a Roku that crashes inexplicably on MLBTV?
Snakes outplaying us on all fronts.
Mama said there’d be days like this.
This guy is killing us with the heat
Freddie is tanking.
Unintentionally I assume you mean.
Dodgers need a spark tonight.
And then a bit of a fire as well.
Dodgers miss Muncy.
The minute Orel praises Will’s block of one pitch, he lets another one get by for the Run.
The minute Orel praises Will’s block of one pitch, he lets another one get by for the Run.
Followed by a K of Marte.
Unacceptable.
Yuck.
We are playing a tired and sloppy game. Time to wake up and sharpen up.
¡Miércoles!
sigh
Expletive.
We are not helping Glasnow at all, offensively or defensively.
Andy HAS to do better in that situation.
He has Dodgers syndrome. Swing for the fence on every pitch, every situation, and every count.
Straighten it out, Jason!
One of the ugliest balks ever.
Terrible throw, Mook.
And he knew it.
Perhaps tonight is when the bottom of the order breaks out.
Not yet.

Out of curiosity, what part of LA?
Hello all. I reached out to Link’s sister today, sending him our love, and telling him we are continuing on communicating to each other during games with his last post, and we believed Freddie’s Grand Slam was for him. I received this message back: “Thank you soo soo much. He really thinks of you all as his best pals.
Currently he is still in icu and not doing well, but he is a fighter and is trying his darnedest to survive.
The regular throat cancer is stable, and the copd but the leukemia was kinda the straw that broke the camel’s back. He’s extremely exhausted and the breathing is real rough. He has lost his voice but can whisper to me. If he could will this all away he would. He’s very frustrated. Thank you all so much …”
Thank you for your report, as difficult as it is to read. Do you know if there is an address where we can mail cards/letters? Or can he access email?
I presume you could write him at Tripler Hospital and it would get to him eventually. The address is:
Tripler Army Medical Center
1 Jarrett White Rd
Honolulu, HI 96859
Thank you, WBBsAs.
What is his full name?
Steve Timberlake
Thanks.
Thanks for the update RBI. Please let him know we are thinking about him and he is in our prayers.
Major failure. Leadoff triple wasted.
The division lead is a mere eight games.
Friends of mine in Davis are watching a minor league game tonight. There is no batboy, but there is a batdog. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/a128467a3fb8798dbed8598d24bae167b5e8047ecbd6dbffb693ad9fa6212c82.png
A succinct summary of situation in Oakland. https://x.com/AlexMarksNV/status/1792613281053692356
Oh well, whip’em tomorrow.
Agreed.
This pitcher is crazy good.
Good grief.
Moving all over the plate.
Those lead off walks’ll kill you.
Yep.
Grove looks wrecked by that dinger.
Grove this season:
4 outings of 3 ER
1 outing of 4 ER
1 outing of 1 ER
13 outings of 0 ER
Overall he has been very good. The pitch Joc hit out was not a bad pitch.
Well I think that was the 11pm showstopper number in this game (Broadway style).
Yep.
Woops. We got Joc’d. Not our night, I fear.
PFFFFFFFFFFFT
Good for Joc.
Bad for the Dodgers.
Screw Joc.
I always liked him. And his brother, Champ.
Joc and Outman my favorite players
Well, still in it to win it. But need the pen to be mightier than the sticks.
Not a quality start by Stone but he kept us in it.
Agreed.
LOL. Going more on the win %.
A Dilly Double.
Uecker probably the most entertaining – not just in the movie.
Just thought I would throw this interesting stat out there.
As of last nights game, Dave Roberts managerial record is 786-460. He is 326 games above .500.
Which means he could lose 162 games and then another 162 games in a row – and still be 2 games over .500.
I wish his post season record was that good.
In the post-season, you’re playing better teams, and there’s the randomness factor in any short series. If you lose two of three to the Fish in June, you quickly forget it.
Ohtani with another RBI!
Just picked up the game on the MLB channel. It’s the Arizona broadcasters. What a couple of homers.
They’re pretty bad, but Krukow and Kuiper are the worst.Yanqui crew is pretty awful too.
I miss the so-bad-they’re-good types like Ken Harrelson and Harry Caray.
Harry Carey and Steve Stone on WGN was entertaining.
I like the Giants’ K and K.
They’re pathetic homer hacks. Miller is really good (and does a great Vin impression), Phlegming not quite so bad.
The old WBBsAs reappears.
The Gnats once had Lon Simmons and Hank Greenwald, their best ever.
They’re pathetic homer hacks. Miller is really good (and does a great Vin impression), Phlegming not quite so bad.
He had some bad luck with soft contact early.
Also got some bad ball for strike calls which seemed to really throw him off. Bad calls on the ump, but inability to deal on Stone.
The pitch right before the last HR was a 3rd strike called a ball.
Stony not sharp tonight.
That was all Ohtani.
He tore around the bases and his pants
We need a Pfaadt couple of pitches.
That’s a Pfaadt
Nice getting out of it.
Good catch and pivot by Lux to save the DP
Rocky start for Stone.
Best friend helps him out
DP!!!
Four singles in a row.
For some.
Ugh.
Soft contact hurts.
Twisted his ankle. Hope it’s okay.
He looked OK charging the base hit and making the throw.
Ouch
Any word on the Linkster?
I sent his sister a text message, but haven’t heard anything back.
Shohei swings at ball four.
Tuesday evening Schadenfreude: Gnats blow four-run lead in ninth, then lose to Bucs 7-6 in tenth.
Cruz had 2 hits faster than 190!!
Huh?
Ha kilometers!
Thanks, I couldn’t figure it out although I am assuming its kilometers because I don’t know if 190 KM even passes the smell test.
Having seen him whack they ball, not all that unbelievable.
190 Kilometer
118.0605 mph
A kilometer is a mile after devaluation.
Funny how close you were:
0.6213711922 miles equals equals one kilometer
0.73338737 US Dollars equals one Canadian dollar
Reds beat Padres, 2-0, tonight Dodgers’ lead in NL West is now 8 1/2.
Hope it is 9 when tonight is over. Go Dodgers.
Reds burn Fryers…
And yet there are many worries/complaining about the lack of offense in the bottom half of the batting order.
It is a legitimate concern.
Muncy’s return will alleviate that.
Muncy is headed in the wrong direction
He remains well above average as an offensive contributor.
Average might not have been the best choice of words
He is above average.

Hate to have to Joc credit for a great AB, but it was.
More Monday Schadenfreude – Angles bag Trashtros 9-7 at The Juice Box.
On the Schadenfreude front, Yanquis blew a three-run in the ninth and lost to Rainiers (which name I still strongly prefer for a Seattle team – they need to seize it from their Tacoma farm).
I also just heard from Steve’s sister. I’ll keep posting here for the time being, and I will add that we were fortunate enough to meet up with him for lunch in Honolulu a few years ago. Go Steve, and go Dodgers!
Yes, go Steve and go Dodgers indeed!
Hello my friends. I just had a call from Steve’s (Link’s) sister, Lynn, that he is in the ICU. He was just diagnosed with acute leukemia and is having trouble speaking. It does not look hopeful. Link being Link, even in this state he was conscientious enough to insist Lynn let us all know what is happening. My heart breaks for this courageous and lovely man. She is shattered, as am I. He has fought so bravely. And I have learned so much from him, not just about baseball, but more importantly about showing up for others, day after day. I’m so sorry to be the bearer of this sad news. But if anyone can beat the odds, it is this wonderful human.
This is very sad news, indeed. For those who pray, pray. For those who hope, hope.
My wife and I were vacationing on the Big Island two years ago and I flew to Oahu to spend a few hours with Link. He picked me up at the airport, showed me where he lived and we ate at a restaurant — what he could swallow was limited — and we talked about many things, including life and baseball. It was good so spend time with this smart, kind and thoughtful person. And, later that day, he drove me back to the Honolulu airport. Subsequently, he had told me that things were getting better.
I’m so glad you two got to meet, and that I’ve had the great good fortune to meet you as well.
Thank you. I feel fortunate to have spent time with you, Winnipeg Dave, Link and WBBsAs as well and to have attended games with all of you, except for Steve.
It looks as if I’m the only one not to have met RBI, but hoping to remedy that this summer.
I agree, though Ohio Dodger is another mystery to me, not to mention Bob Hendley. And Package, wherever he may be. I did get to meet OG Jon Weisman and Bob Timmerman back in the day.
Never met Hendley, but he’s a fellow semi-Swede. I very occasionally communicate with Weisman, but have never met him in person.
Very sorry to hear this. My prayers go out to him and his family.
A win for Link!
Ballgame!!
Dodgers win!
Woo-HOO!!! Hudson!
2 away.
This game is on the verge of turning into oh no territory.
Rats!!
Good AB to that point.
Yep.
He shoulda K’d instead.
Dang.
I just turned in and am saddened by the news regarding Steve. Interesting how sharing thoughts here let us know a lot about someone. Steve is clearly a great guy.
Agreed Bumsrap.
He had to hold.
Yep
Darn. Hoped Freddie could have scored on that hit.
Smith walks on ball 5.
Glad Will got the walk after all.
Freddie breaks the string of outs.
I didntunderstand the demotion of Feyereisen, who had been pitching very well.
I’m with you on that.
He’d pitched a lot – overworked – and had options. He’ll be back.
Well, now I understand.
OK, that’s enough of Hernández.
I bet I can guess which pitcher will be the next to be sent down or DFA’ed.
Enough Doc. Get somebody ready.
That one was hammered.
Joining in late tonight. Very sad to hear the news about Steve, and like the rest of you will think, hope, pray for positive healing for our dear Linkmeister.
My heart is sad tonight.
Fifteen straight Dodgers have been retired since Smith’s home run.
That decision by Doc to pull Yamamoto was not a reckless A Banda.
Yamamoto had an owie and needed a Banda-id.
Whew!!
Get it together!
Wow!! A home run hat trick.

Great! And thanks, WBBsAs, I went to mlb.tv in time to see the game-winning hit).
That will do.
Wah-Ooh!!! Dodgers Win!!
With Mookie and Ohtani coming up, we should win this.
Was Hernandez trying to sacrifice? Neither eyes, nor ears.
Not clear, but horrendous execution in any event. This is MLBTV free game, by the way.
He was trying to get the bunt down. Popped it up. Poor ececution.
OK boys, walk this off now. Bunt the runner over to 3rd and squeeze him in.
Or, have Kiké sacrifice and then pinch-hit for Barnes.
What a strategy that was!
Very surprised that Elly didn’t try to steal.
Fine play by Quique!
If this goes to ten, Elly will be the ghost runner.
Well crap.
OK. Lets go Dodgers.
Pinch-hit for Barnes.
Or for Mookie?
Nah.
Coulda been much worse.
Definitely.
Bah humbug. And now I have to leave for a memorial service.
Ugggh!
DP PLEASE!
Uhoh. Stephenson up now.
So annoying after the bad ump call.
That was horrendous.
Lux’s mistake and then Yarb’s.
Wow that was really sloppy guys.
Ump! Really?
ouch
Did Teoscar even see that?
What happened?
Double over his head hit the base of the wall.
Thanks. Sounded like he butchered it.
Didn’t seem like he picked it up until he heard it bounce off the wall.
He took a right-angle route.
Close it down, Knack.
Turning the Pages…
He turned on that one for sure!

Keep it up, Knack! Doing great so far…
