Dodgers at Red Sox, 4:10 PM PDT, TV” Apple TV+
RHP Lance Lynn (9-9, 5.60 ERA) goes for the Dodgers and RHP Kutter Crawford (6-6, 3.66 ERA) goes for the Sox.
- 1979 In a Hollywood Stars vs. the Media game played at Dodger Stadium, Robin Williams, the star of the hit television series “Mork and Mindy”, a show in which he plays an alien, runs the bases backwards. The comedian explains circling the bags clockwise is very common on the Planet Ork, his character’s home in the universe.
- 1995 At Veterans Stadium, Gregg Jefferies hits for the cycle when Philadelphia crushes the Dodgers, 17-4. The Phillies’ first baseman, who has four RBIs and scores four runs, collects all of his extra-base hits off of LA starting pitcher Hideo Nomo.
- 2008 After being swept in a four-game series earlier in the month in L.A., the Phillies return the favor, beating the Dodgers, 5-0, to complete its own four-game sweep. It is the first time in franchise history that Philadelphia has swept the Dodgers in a four-game series at home.
- 2009 With a 5-4 win in ten innings over the Dodgers, the Rockies move 18 games over .500 for the first time in franchise history. The wild-card leader, winning 52 of their last 74 games, the latest on a Troy Tulowitzki bases-loaded single, has cut LA’s Western Division lead from 15.5 games on June 3 to just two games.
- 2012 In a nine-player blockbuster trade, the Dodgers obtain Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford, Nick Punto, and cash considerations for James Loney, Allen Webster, Ivan De Jesus, Jr., and two players to be named later (Rubby De La Rosa and Jerry Sands). The deal gives the new Dodgers ownership an opportunity to show their fans they are serious about making a run for the postseason, while giving an under-performing Boston team more financial flexibility in the offseason.

NPUT
Kike’ says remember me?
I’ve been to four games at Fenway. A cool ballpark. edited to 4 games.
I’ve been to two. I couldn’t agree more with you. I even bought a Green Monster T-shirt. Plus, the atmosphere outside the ballpark is superb.
Yeah, they close off the street when the game starts so you can leave the ballpark and eat at all the places outside and come back in without question. My son sat on top of the Green Monster and said it was worth the price.
Boston is a major city but you can walk the whole city and all its historic places.
I like Boston, but we stay with friends in Cambridge when we visit.
I liked exploring Lexington and Concord.
I have another friend in Concord, so we did the Thoreau hike with him.
Back late, but ballgame.
Woo-HOO!!!
Fun watching a win in Boston.
Yay!! We win!!
Fine catch by Peralta.
Thanks to the Tootblan, Vesia gets a hold.
Did Wong the pinch-runner, take too wide a turn at 2nd?
Tried to go from first to third with head down and the runner ahead of him stopped at third and Freddie cut off a good Betts throw
Thank You Red Sox
Slip sliding away? Say it ain’t so Simon.
Brusdar is not a multi inning guy.
Alex Cora’s comments earlier in the game about Verdugo was not too supportive. Said he wished Cora could be as enthusiastic all the time as he was today against his former team.
Well, Dodgers are Cora’s former team.
He wished Cora could be, or Alex could be?
Are any of you watching this game on Apple? I am not a subscriber.
I am. I got it free for a year when I bought a new laptop.
Hmm. I just bought a new Apple desktop. I wasn’t told about that or if it was available. I will inquire.
Yes. It has to be one of their better broadcasts and the picture seems extra sharp.
Good job Brusdar.
Given the inauspicious beginning, Lynn didn’t really pitch all that poorly.
Lance acquitted himself well. Ate up innings and kept us in the game.
The Boston Globe can scratch that headline:”Red Sox Lance Lynn”
Ha, hopefully they won’t lance Graterol instead.
Now it’s Smith’s turn.
No, it was Max’s.
Dodgers lead! 48 doubles for Freddie on the season! That’s one behind Shawn Green’s record in 2001.
What are the ticket prices like at Fenway? The Dodgers’ tickets aren’t cheap like they were when I was going there back in the 1980s, I know that.
They are higher than other parks as I remember but because I no longer buy more than a pair at a time and maybe attend a game every other year, I don’t like to think about the price and just pay it.
I went to a game there about eight years ago and bought a ticket about 20 rows up on the first deck near third base and it was about $55. I thought that was quite reasonable.
I have always had good luck buying tickets on the street outside the ballpark about a half hour before the game. Scalpers getting desperate to unload.
That’s how I got my all time best ticket which was right next to the Dodgers on deck circle. I could hear the conversation between the hitters sharing the circle before one of them approached the plate
More important, how much are hot dogs and beers?
$8

goodgoogleing
Thanks. LOL. I was curious.

I went there in the mid-1980s while on a research trip to New England whaling museums (Marthas Vineyard, etc.), found a free parking spot across the street, and purchased a walk-up ticket.
The Dodgers have been taking advantage of the pitchers between the starter and the closer.
Here we go!
One, two, three
That looked like a very catchable ball.
Lynn is a municipality about 20 minutes from Boston; perhaps he/it is under Boston’s spell.
Usually Boston is the one known to be under a spell.
Because I’ve always loved to compile baseball statistics, and because I believe that some of you are Dodgers fans, here’s what Mookie has been up to (prior to tonight’s game):
In three-game Cleveland series: 9-for-12 (.750)
In last seven games: 15-for-25 (.600)
In last 12 games: 25-for 44 (.569) and nine multiple-hit games
In August: 38-for-82 (.463)
Batting average by months:
March, 2 games: .143
April, 25 games: .242
May, 27 games: .269
June, 24 games: .309
July, 21 games, .305
August, 21 games, .463
2023 Cumulative: 120 games, .310
He is having a great year an his batting average needed to catch up with his other stats.
Dinner party, so under the table from here on out.
You have Argentine employees?
Actually early for us, but our guests are gringos.
In Argielandia, “under the table” is the default option.
Boston loves Quique.
Doc starts Quique against the righty instead of Outman.
He is certainly more familiar with the terrain in CF at Fenway.
Maybe a combination of letting Kike’ play in front of his ex team that seemed to really like him and giving Outman a needed break. Not because he is tired but because he has been striking out at an increased rate lately.
So Verdugo claims the stage with the dinger off of dinger-prone Lance.
Broadcast didn’t even note that he was a Dodger and came over for Mookie.
To be fair Alex didn’t give the Broadcasters much time before he started running around the bases. But yeah, that’s weak.
Verdugo revenge.
Boston loves Mookie.
A wicked good game today. Break out the lobsta rolls and win this one.
