Dodgers at Angels, 7:07 PM PDT, TV: Bally Sports West, SPNLA, TBS
LHP Clayton Kershaw (8-4, 2.95 ERA) takes the mound at the Big A for the Dodgers and LHP Reid Detmers (1-5, 4.48 ERA) does so for the hometown Angels.
MLB.com speculates that the Dodgers may be in the market for starting pitching at the trade deadline.
the club’s pitching staff has uncharacteristically struggled in 2023. Los Angeles has given up 4.82 runs per game, tied for the seventh most in MLB.

Los Angeles could look to add a starting pitcher in a trade this summer.
Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman indicated as much while talking to The Athletic (subscription required) on Monday.
“In Spring Training, I did not expect that in July we would aggressively be looking for pitching,” Friedman said. “With the injuries and where we are, I think that focus has shifted. There’s no question that [targeting pitching] is more likely than it was in March.”
MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand looked at potential fits for some of MLB’s top trade candidates on Monday and listed the Dodgers among the possible suitors for starting pitchers Shane Bieber, Eduardo Rodriguez, Marcus Stroman and Lucas Giolito.

Thanks Busch/bounce!
Refresh
The devil is in the Angel infield
in the Angel infield.
I was thinking this but didn’t want to say it until Kersh got through 7 that Smith and Kershaw are working very well together.
Well done, Dodgers!
Willy, Clayton, and the Busch.
That was a sweet win
Wah-Ooh!!

Woo-HOO!!! And a win for Kersh!
#206
CT3 had a good swing there, just missed it.
Hader being Hader at the bottom of the ninth, unfortunately. Bases loaded one out 3-3 tie.
He walked the winning run in.
Ridiculous.
Pads are proving they were overrated.
Gnats will come back to earth. Puds are the more dangerous team.
Remember that year when the giants never fell to earth, well until we got them in the playoffs.
The Gnats will fall flat, but the Pads have even more serious problems.
Joc with a home run in 8th and a walk in 9th.
A walk off walk that is
Ferguson pitching like he were in Dodger Stadium.
Maybe it’s a Southern California thing, as he does well at Petco also.
Just clipped the zone. Atta boy Caleb.
Nice job, Ferguson!
I thought Doc would bring in Phillips.
Me too, but Caleb seems to have regained his footing over his past three outings. We be great to have a southpaw fireman as well.
The Angels forever prospect Jo Adell now with the Salt Lake Bees has just hit a ball 514 feet.
He isn’t that big of a guy as I picture him.
Not small, but yeah.
Small ball.
We need more of it.
Don’t stop now!
Willie being Willie!
He’s a Dilly.
Still have good daylight here in Washington and I see it’s dark in Angleland.
When I was a kid in Tacoma, I had to wait until the sun went down to hear Vin on KFI.
Had to wait for the bounce?
Even a 50,000-watt clear channel station couldn’t arrive until after dark.
Uggh (but it was foul).
C’mon Willy.
Pretty Freddie-ish!
Time for Freddie to be Freddie.
WOW!!
Very nice hop!
I wanted Drury to be a Dodger.
Let’s get some runs and put Kersh in line for a win.
Whew.
Kershaw the Magnificent!
Yes!
C’mon Clayton.
One more Klayton
The rookies need to step it up.
Busch again handling sharp ground balls.
Ugh. Don’t want a runner on with the top of the order coming up.
Offense rolling over and playing dead.
You misspelled opossum.
Sign behind the plate…..4 tickies, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas -$44
Not bad other than the location of the seats.
I wonder how much it is to park.
$4?
Just looked it up. $20 for general and $30 for preferred.
Can’t you just take the monorail there!?
Busch with a good play at third. Now he needs a hit.
Yes. Got him on the nose by a nose.
Turns out the glove caught the helmet.
I am pleased to have been mistaken.
This is a good use of replay. Coming off a base for half a second for a reversal is wrong.
I put this in the same category at coming off a base. You come off the base from the momentum from sliding late to get there sooner. You should not be rewarded for that. The other category, which they used to justify the replay challenge, was an obviously bad call that the ump himself would want to take back.
Not be rewarded.
I agree about the hard and late slide taking the runner off the base should be an out if tagged. I was thinking about something less than an overslide.
You can’t ask an ump to take into consideration why a runner’s foot/hand left the bag. It either stays on or it doesn’t.
Disagree. You should have to maintain contact with the base.
refresh is my friend.
What about the edit function?
I edited, but you don’t see the edit unless you refresh.
I thought safe (with regret).
Come on NY.
Wow. Didn’t think they had the guts to overturn.
I could see the call going either way but too close to be overturned.
The throw beat the runner and only because it was wide made it close.
Hung that one, but no problem.
Rengifo still playing for Angels.
Actually started to contribute last year, but hasn’t gotten it going yet this year.
Need to get the pitch count up on Detmers and get him out of the game.
That has to be what Betts is thinking.
Betts has seen 10 pitches.
True, but…
Snakes lose to Beerboys.
Klayton is 4th in NL in K/9 and WAR, and 6th in ERA.
Those stats spell another year or retire on top.
I like this lineup.
Outman taking his swings
Hey Bum. Just an aside, but, what is the value of 1 WAR these days. I thought it was $7-8M.
Close enough for me. I would have guessed $8.4 but just a guess.
In Wisconsin, the Beerboys have taken a 7-5 lead over the Timber Rattlers in the seventh.
Ohtani with the big boy pop up.
He’s welcome to do that all night.
Angel killer on the mound.
And away we go.
