Over at MLB Trade Rumors Connor Byrne notes the recent Times story about Yasiel Puig’s ostensible “disgruntlement” about his diminished playing time last year. He also speculates about a Matt Kemp trade, but wonders how and to whom that might happen. So do I. I can’t imagine another NL team wanting the Bison, a 34-year-old outfielder who had an excellent first half of last year but then fell off drastically at the midpoint of the season. He did win the Players’ Choice Comeback Player of the Year Award in 2018 but was beaten out for the MLB one by Atlanta’s LHP Jonny Venters. He could be a useful DH for an American League team.
Here’s a wonderful Christmas gift idea. You can purchase it at ALL BLUEA for $28.99-$34.99.
Okay, I’ve had enough fun with the WP comment system. I’ll go back to Disqus (I heard one of its employees pronounce it — it’s supposed to be a funny spelling of “discuss,” not “disk-us.”) Today’s useless bit of information is brought to you by the letter “Q.”

Plaschke approvesof the Kelly acquisition, but in his column he takes shots at other players for no apparent reason.
I wonder what TJ Simers is doing these days.
Gammons on Ted Williams and hitting, and a shift in approach that new hitting coach would bring to Dodgers. https://theathletic.com/705476/2018/12/13/gammons-want-to-understand-whats-happening-in-baseball-now-it-all-goes-back-to-ted-williams/

Dodgers plan to beat shifts by bunting more. I’ll believe it when I see it.
A ruse, no doubt!
Yeah, easy to say, but in practice it probably only makes sense in situations where you need baserunners to set up the next guy in the line up. If you need to drive in runs in that spot, They’ve got you right where they want you.
Oh man I hope this is true!
Dodgers lose Joe Connor and Drew Jackson in Rule 5 draft.
Connor Joe. I had his name backward.
Joe Kelly, huh? Of the relievers on that level, I think Jeurys Familia is probably better, but the Mets probably had the inside track there.
Must have seen something in scouting him that would help him sustain his July and playoff performance, as opposed to his numbers otherwise. Doesn’t seem that long ago that giving a three-year contract to a less that elite reliever was seen as a Ned thing not to be repeated.
Make that May, August and playoffs.
Heh.

Salary relief = Harper, no?
Someone trying to put all the various rumors into one big package came up with this. https://twitter.com/vaygizdoyjus/status/1072883340707954689?s=21 Kipnis is a left handed bat, but still mediocre against righties. Would also leave Freese out in the cold. So, not sure this in particular has legs, though perhaps a big three-way trade is being contemplated.
Here is the wildest one I heard:
Kemp, Hill, Wood, Puig to Reds. Don’t remember who the Dodgers get in return other than salary relief. Maybe the Reds would want to send Baily to Dodgers. Maybe the Dodgers might get a prospect or two.
Mutual Salary dump, with Bailey costing less against the luxury tax than the package going out. I wouldn’t be too surprised to see this one happen.
Would be shedding a lot of value just for a salary dump. Would make more sense if a third team were involved (Cleveland?) and we got a frontline starter in the package.

Whenever I hear a Yankee fan on a talk show saying that Giancarlo Stanton should be traded to the Dodgers, I think, “Only if you take Matt Kemp and throw in some cash.”
Even then, I’m not sure it would be a good deal for the Dodgers long term.

There must be a way to store email and name data. Lemme look.
Supposedly once you’ve commented three times WP automatically fills in your data. I have my doubts. That might refer to an older version. I’ll keep trying to get it to do so.
Also, no editing function.
Those of us with a high typo rate really need the edit.

address every time?
Hey RBI
I have had to do this on other sites and they also have to do it everytime. I hope you are doing good and ready for Christmas.
Actually, I like the disques form better. What is wrong with it?
For one thing once comments are closed they’re inaccessible to all the commenters forevermore. For another they don’t show up on the WordPress dashboard I see when I write a new post, so I have no idea how many comments each post generates. Not a big deal except that someone invariably asks me how many X post got and I can’t tell.
