Dodgers at Pirates, 9:35AM PT, TV: SPNLA, ROOT Sports, MLBN (out-of-market only)
The Dodgers ask Scott Kazmir (5-3, 4.52 ERA) to stop their slide before it gets worse. His last start was a quality one in which he gave up only two runs to the Nats in six innings. The Pirates ask Francisco Liriano (4-7, 5.17 ERA) to stop his personal slide during which he’s gotten no wins in his last five starts and walked 19 batters during that stretch.
Expect Adrian González to sit this one out as per this word from Dave Roberts on Sunday.
Lineup: somebody post it in the comments when it turns up. I am NOT getting up at dawn to watch this game.
NPUT in two minutes. 😉
I am going to stick my neck out and predict that Stewart will pith like an ace. I just have a gut feeling. Most know I am a big Joc fan but I have not made any predictions that he would be great. I hope Joc will be great. I think Stewart will be great.
Stewart is ranked at the Dodgers 26th best prospect. His tools are:
Scouting grades: Fastball: 60 | Slider: 45 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 50 | Overall: 45
That’s a “pith”-y comment…
Sometimes I can’t enunciate esses and that pitheth me off.
Eththethth, you mean…?
I said sometimes 🙂
Gnats lose, Dodgers gain a game.
Atléticos doing Dodgers the favor of beating up on Smegma and the Gnats.
They weren’t Gnats: https://twitter.com/tomricks1/status/747597358746112001
Looks like Brock Stewert will start on Wednesday.
nice win I see, that’s how you chase down a 4 run deficit
I came out of my cave and see that the often maligned bullpen was almost perfect: 4 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit, 6 strikeouts, 2 walks. A four-game sweep by the Bucs would have been devastating.
Báez looked great.
Great to hear that.
He was dominant – totally blew away the two hitters he faced.
Woo-hoo, she says tentatively.
And now strongly!
Woo-HOO!!!!
Okay Kenley. Time for out three, please.
First and second, nobody out, no runs. This offense is so unreliable.
Tepid.
As opposed to our Friday pitcher, who was Tepesch.
AJ! And the overslide…
Don’t walk leadoff guys!
We need a DP right now.
Monday and Kevin Kennedy on the radio. I’ve been wondering who that other voice was.
You are fortunate not to have Steiner.
Kudos to Kazmir for that strike out of Marte.
Bad ball four call there, ump. That was strike three.
I’m especially glad for Yasiel.
Tie game. Yes. Despair is held at bay.
Yes! Link brought Luck!
Come on, Yasiel! Give it a blast, but only if it’s a strike!
Not-so-good morning, all.
Don’t go anywhere…
As long as the coffee’s hot. 😉
Okay Trayce. Help your team.
And now Kazmir seems to be settling down well. But almost without exception there’s that bad inning, or three, that sets us on our heels…
Is this what the Dodgers need? Apolitically speaking, of course: https://twitter.com/TheOnion/status/747484677712273409
You do know that the Onion is a spoof and this is likely satire?
If your comment meta-satire?
Because I realize that I am likely to break Rules of the Road 7 and 8 repeatedly today, I am bowing out of this conversation, perhaps for the rest of the game.
Don’t worry. I’ll probably repeat myself and you!
Monday morning with Kazmir – what a way to start the week!
Not my fave, as you know. I miss Greinke.

No one in our lineup hitting above .250 with the exception of the recently acquired Chris Taylor, who went 1-for-3 in two games with Seattle earlier this year.
By comparison, only two players in Pittsburgh’s starting lineup hitting below .250.
By contrast…
Really, WBBsAs?
Comparison v. contrast…
I am glad we have an ever-vigilant wordsmith on the site.
