Brown-skinned people go home!

That is Donald Trump’s message, and some of his fellow candidates for the Republican nomination for President are echoing him.

As a Democrat, I couldn’t be more pleased. Hillary or Bernie will still have to work hard to gain the votes of our Hispanic/Latino fellow citizens, but it doesn’t hurt when your opposition party unleashes its not-so-latent xenophobia and makes it a major issue in its primary elections.

While Trump is the one advocating trains of cattle cars taking 11 million people across the border to Mexico (there’s an image, huh?), Scott Walker seems to think the 14th Amendment can be reversed by a simple act of Congress (“enforce the laws?” What does that even mean, Governor Walker? The Constitution is the law). Senator Ted Cruz credits Trump with bringing up the subject of immigration without mentioning trains. Jeb Bush disagrees, to his credit, but that makes him less likely to win in some primaries, where they love the red meat and hate the moderates and liberals. Rubio wants “legal” immigration but doesn’t like to talk of details. The rest of the crowd is hiding from Trump and his bellicosity.

Keep it up, Trump.
