Emergency dental exam

Part of the treatment process includes potential damage to teeth, so I got a call from the Army dental clinic today saying “can you come up here so we can look at your mouth? Today?”

So I trundled up there and spent an hour being poked with dental tools, x-rayed to an inch of my life, and then told that my oral health was good. Given that I’ve religiously gone to see a civilian dentist every six months for about 20 years, I’d have been astonished if they came up with a different verdict.

Oh well. I admire the thoroughness with which they’re treating me.

  1. Yes, this is the right thing. Due to several of the meds I’m on (which aren’t working very well right now, I’ve been having an RA flare for most of a week, grump), I see an ophthalmologist once a year to make sure my retinas are OK and blood tests every 6 weeks to make sure my liver is fine. This is called “unnecessary testing” by tea party supporters who aren’t having it done.

  2. Glad to hear they’re thorough–I had to have a pre-op clearance appointment one day before my surgey, even though I’d been in A) every three months and B) three days previously. I guess I’d rather they’re thorough than neglectful.

Hedera, sorry to hear about the RA flare, hope it subsides. Loved your sympathy note regarding the Colorado fires; your webiste gives me a hard time when I try to comment.
