  1. Why?
I last shaved off my mustache on June 10, 1968 … the day I graduated from high school. So it’s coming up on 41 years, with no thought of ending the streak.
Determining how long I’ve had a beard is more difficult to pinpoint. I shaved it off fairly regularly before college vacations (my father hated it), and definitely shaved it when I went to med school interviews in my senior year. Assuming that my last such interview was in March 1972, we’re looking at exactly 37 consecutive bearded years. And counting … again, nary a thought of removing it.

  2. Ron, Ha! If mine had looked that good I might have kept it!
N, it was nicotine-stained and brushy and I just plain thought I’d like to see what I look like without it.

  3. d00d. It’s not the facial hair. It’s the hip hop clothes that make you look younger.
And what’s that light glowing out of your nether regions? You didn’t get a freaky piercing did you???

  4. I’ve had my mustache since Carter was in the White House and the full beard since Reagan. I can’t imagine myself without either.
So tell me, what does the naked upper lip FEEL like?

  5. Actually, not bad. I’m getting used to it. A friend tweeted that when he shaved his off it looked like you could land a plane on his upper lip; I won’t go that far, but it is a little disconcerting to see bare skin there.

  6. Like N., I’ve had my stache since ’68. I cut it off once, in ’89, when my son was a baby, because it seemed to tickle him. I shaved without telling SeattleTammy I was going to do so. She told me that I had to grow it back, if I ever hoped of having nookie ever again. So my choice wasn’t difficult.
