Game 54, 2022

Mets at Dodgers, 1:10 Pm PDT, TV: SNY, SPNLA

RHP Trevor Williams (1-3, 3.588 ERA) takes the hill for the Mets and LHP Julio Urías (3-5, 2.89 ERA) does the same for the Dodgers. In his last start Williams got through the fifth inning for the first time in any of his four starts this season and got the win, giving up just four hits and no runs. Urías has not gotten the run support this year that he did last season and he’s given up half as many home runs (9) in 2022 in just one third as many games (10) as he did last year (32 games, 19 HRs).

    • He’s a DH and, at the time the Dodgers let him go, it seemed unlikely there’d be a place for him.

      • He never played for the Dodgers, so there was no way to judge. We’ve had a surfeit of outfielders for the past four or five years anyway.

  1. When you play your 31st game in 30 days, why not play extra innings?

    • I’d at least like to see him cut down on his swing with 2 strikes and concentrate on making contact instead of hitting the ball a mile.

  2. What has happened to Buehler and Urias? I shudder to think where we’d be without Gonsolin and Anderson.

  3. A 2-5 homestand. Now off to the Windy City to play the White Sox for three, starting Tuesday, and then to San Francisco for three.

  4. We’re hurting now. Had Mookie advanced the runner to third, the infield would have been in and Freddie’s grounder would have been a hit.

  5. Hudson’s ERA is 1.96 and he didn’t pitch last night. Graterol did and was ineffective.

  6. We’d better get some offense going this inning. I’m not holding my breath, though.

  7. Robert’s and his use of pitchers: too many brain freezes every year. Sorry.

  8. My daughter went to the A’s game yesterday vs. the Red Sox in Oakland. She loves baseball. (I wonder where that came from?) The attendance was 14,796. The A’s haven’t reached 18,000 once this year. The ticket prices have skyrocketed. Boston won, 8-0, yesterday and is on the verge of sweeping the three-game series.

  9. Pardon my one-note samba: Mookie, Freddie and Turner last night, 4-14; everybody else 2-for-19. We need others to resume hitting, Smith in particular.

  10. Kershaw’s rehab start at Rancho Cucamonga today: 5 innings, 2 hits, 1 run (solo HR), 6 Ks, 1 BB. No mention of pitches thrown. Left with a 2-1 lead; RC lost.

  11. Angels just dropped their 11th in a row, losing to the Phils, 9-7, on a three-run homer by Stott in the bottom of the 9th with two outs.

    • I guess that is just who he is. I can live with it if he keeps his OPS at .800 or better. Right now at .792.

  12. The Beerboys’ bullpen has imploded in the tenth, and Pads now lead 6-3.

  13. Trea is making himself important. Will be interesting if he re-signs with the Dodgers.

  14. Kershaw scheduled to make a rehab assignment today for Low-A Rancho Cucamonga.
