Can Trump do all that immediately?

He made a bunch of promises to reverse the Obama Administration’s actions and things that happened during those eight years. How many of them can he fulfill?

David Lauter of the Los Angeles Times answers that question:

He can’t reverse Roe v. Wade immediately. It would take a court case getting up to the Supreme Court after he’d appointed a conservative Justice.

He can reverse a lot of what Obama did with regard to immigration.

He could ban Muslims from entering the country.

He can’t overturn the right of same-sex couples to marry. Even a new more conservative Court would be unlikely to overturn its own decision, particularly since it’s growing more accepted every day.

American participation in curbing climate change is probably toast.

Repealing Obamacare is easy. Replacing it is hard, and it would be politically difficult to abruptly take it away from 20 million people with no replacement plan, so it might take a while to replace. They also claim they want to keep the “good parts,” like the coverage for pre-existing conditions and coverage of adult children until age 26. If they do that they might end up with something that looks a lot like current Obamacare.
