I bought the last one in May of 2011, so it’s had a pretty good run. It still works other than the network adapter issue, so I should be able to transfer all the data from it to the new machine, which is the same HP Slimline model with a 1T hard drive. It’s slightly lower, slightly shorter in depth and possibly even a little thinner.

To help me transfer data I spent the $70 savings I got on a 1T Seagate external hard drive by taking advantage of a sales price of $279. Presumably the external drive will be of great use for several years down the road, not just for this particular task.

‘Course, now I have to do all the actual data transfer. Won’t that be fun?
