Game 119, 2015

Dodgers at Athletics, 7:05PM PT, TV: SPNLA, CSNCA

Clayton Kershaw brings his 10-6 record and his 2.39 ERA to bear against Felix Doubront (1-1, 4.59 ERA), making his first start for the As since coming over from the Blue Jays at the deadline. He’s made two relief appearances for them. I found this rather dismissive summary of him at Yahoo Sports:

Doubront has bounced around, beginning the year with the Cubs in spring training and getting another chance in Toronto before joining the A’s at the trade deadline. The journeyman left-hander can probably be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Now that’s cold!

Hmm. The International Scouting department has just undergone a facelift. Or possibly a purge. Depends on how you look at it.

From Sunday:

Lineup:

Game 114, 2015

Nationals at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, MASN

Clayton Kershaw (9-6, 2.51 ERA) against Jordan Zimmermann (8-7, 3.44 ERA). Two staff aces going against one another.

Need I say more?

Oh, okay. Carl Crawford is hitting .455 against Zimmermann in their career meetings. Ryan Zimmerman has hit .438 against Kershaw in their career meetings.

Lineup when available.

Okay, I understand Crawford’s playing because he hits Zimmermann, but no Rollins?

Game 109, 2015

Dodgers at Pirates, 4:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, ESPN

It’s a battle of aces as the Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw (9-6, 2.37 ERA, 37-inning scoreless streak) goes against the Pirates’ Gerrit Cole (14-5, 2.29 ERA, averaging 106 pitches in each of his last eight starts). Kershaw is 2-1 with a 2.39 ERA lifetime against the Bucs, while Cole is 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA against the Dodgers.

Lineup when available.

Game 104, 2015

Angels at Dodgers, 1:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FS1, FSW

Kershaw is scheduled to pitch after two scratches with a sore hip. He still has his 29-inning scoreless streak. His opponent will be rookie Andrew Heaney, who’s been everything the Angels (and Dodgers) hoped he would be when he was traded from the latter to the former for Howie Kendrick. In his first six starts this season he’s gone 5-0 with a 1.79 ERA.

Let’s hope Albert Pujols doesn’t come up in a spot where he can do damage. Lifetime he’s hit .455 against Kershaw and has a .586 on-base percentage in 29 plate appearances.

Lineup:

I’ve seen no explanation for Pederson’s absence from the lineup.

Game 103, 2015

Angels at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FSW

Clayton Kershaw brings his hopefully-comfortable hip and his 29-inning scoreless streak to bear against the Angels’ Hector Santiago, who’s 7-4 with a 2.43 ERA. Santiago had a rough outing in his last game but had a 1.13 ERA over his previous five starts.

Believe it or not, the Angels have always given Kershaw trouble (relatively speaking). He’s 2-2 with a 3.76 ERA against them; that’s the highest ERA he has against any team he’s faced more than three times.

There will probably be moves later in the day to get to 25 players on the active roster, and there might even be another transaction or two. Who knows?

New news:

Lineup when available.

Kiké in centerfield? Huh.

Game 102, 2015

Athletics at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, CSNCA

The Dodgers send Clayton Kershaw to the mound tonight nursing a 29-inning scoreless streak and admiring a July in which he won three of his first four starts with an ERA of 0.27. His opponent will be Jesse Chavez, who is 5-10 but has a 3.45 ERA. His last start was pretty bad, though: he gave up four runs in three-plus innings against the Giants.

There’s late word that the Dodgers-Marlins trade of Matt Latos and Michael Morse to the Dodgers for prospects may be falling apart over medical issues. Stay tuned.

Lineup when available.

You’ll note that Kershaw isn’t starting any more and Bolsinger is. Kershaw apparently has a sore muscle in his hip or glute.

Jul 23

Game 97, 2015

Dodgers at Mets, 4:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, MLBN

This game has two of the most recognizable pitchers in baseball: Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers, who is 7-6 with a 2.68 ERA and a 20-inning scoreless streak, versus Bartolo Colon of the Mets, who’s 9-8 with a 4.68 ERA and a couple of really bad outings recently in which he gave up seven runs in two of his last five starts. Interestingly, Kershaw hasn’t had a decision against the Mets since July of 2012, but he’s 5-0 with a 1.58 ERA against them for his career.

Lineup when available.

Game 92, 2015

Well, let’s call this the rest of Game 91 as well as Game 92. The Dodgers are still at the Nats at 1:05PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FS1 and MASN. But Friday night’s game, suspended due to electrical power failure (not home run power failure, since it featured four-baggers from Adrian Gonzalez of the Dodgers and Yunel Escobar of the Nats), will be resumed at 11:05AM PT. It’s anybody’s guess who’ll be pitching for either team.

In the regularly scheduled game the Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw makes his first start of the second half, hoping to improve on his 6-6 record and 2.85 ERA. His opponent will be Doug Fister, who’s 3-4 with a 4.08 ERA and a long layoff: he hasn’t pitched since July 6. He spent the latter part of May and the first half of June on the DL with a tight forearm.

Below the fold, some evidence that current players know how to use social media.

Game 88, 2015

Brewers at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA

Mike Bolsinger had success early in the season for the Dodgers, but his last five starts have been less than scintillating. He’s gone no further than 5 1/3 innings in any of them and is 0-2 during that stretch. Overall he’s 4-3 with a 3.09 ERA. The Brewers send out Jimmy Nelson, who’s 6-8 with a 4.50 ERA but has also had trouble getting deep into games recently: he hasn’t gotten past the sixth inning in five of his last seven starts.

Lineup:

Hmm. Nelson’s righthanded, so I can only assume Ethier is tired. Or perhaps Guerrero’s numbers are better than his against Nelson?

Kershaw came in third in the ASG Final Vote count, so he’s going to sit in LA or go home to Texas for a few days, I imagine.

Game 86, 2015

Phillies at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA

Clayton Kershaw tries to even his record at 6-6. He’s pitched much better than that record indicates, including a 2.67 ERA in his last four starts with 35 Ks in 27 innings, games in which he got three losses for his trouble.

He’ll face rookie lefty Adam Morgan, who will be making his third big league start. He went 5 2/3 innings in his first game and got the win, and then went 7 innings in his second and got a loss. He’s 1-1 with a 2.13 ERA.

Lineup when available.

Pederson has been dropped down in the order, probably due to his recent slump.
